A 2 meter tall, solid kid with strong hands who can kick goals from anywhere within 60... McCartin needs to be a freak of a footballer to match that. Not saying he is or he isn't but I know who I'd be taking at least on paper.

St.Kilda have Longer and Hickey though so an argument could be made that McCartin is a far better fit.

wouldn't be shocked if we liked Jordan De Goey, a tall midfielder that could play multiple roles, uses the ball well by hand and foot
has been flying under the radar,he puts his head over the ball, strong over head, hits the score board
I think he has flown under the radar because he is good at everything, but not great at one thing

so I'm thinking since it'll be likely we miss out on the talls it will be probably be; Petracca, Brayshaw, De Goey at our first
all around that 187cm mark with big frames

hoping we get Laverde in the second, who is currently 189cm and is a creative half back with pretty good foot skills but even better, runs hard both ways (but could also see him going in the first round to) with the tall midfielders been the rage ;)

What does Wright do when he doesn't have the ball though? Genuine question for anyone whose watched a bit of him. Thats the only problem with most of those 200cm forwards, but if Wright chases/tackles/gets on his bike up the ground etc well he'd be fantastic. Won't get him though :(

I watched the u18 game last night (the Metro one). I like your boy Duggan. He can play. Petracca is good and Crane (?) seemed like he knew what was going on. But I did like the massive range Wright. Good tap ruckmen, good hands etc. and a big unit. He'll do me if he falls down to us :)

Payne? Was it a CHF/tall guy?

Duggan done nothing in that game , wright was good in the ruck tap work awesome but is slow and didn't do much around the ground

Duggan did have a quiet one that game
Payne is good, an over ager, I really liked Ahern
Did you see De Goey? I just call him the goo ;)

Only saw the game live but I thought Duggan was terrible

I mean Duggan wasn't great. But it's not like he showed nothing. He wasn't as impressive as Petrecca or Brayshaw but showed good touch and poise, I thought. Laverde looked good in breif glimpses too.

I look at the positives ie the best things they do, and judge them on that. That might wrong, but he moved well and some of the things he did I thought showed he knew what he was doing.

Yeah liked him too. Where does he sit? I'm really not a junior watcher at all but enjoyed watching the games. I guess I find it hard to peg the standard and having played to a pretty high junior level in another sport, I always have an eye on the more talented under developed kid that the meat axe early developer (unless of course they are just a gun)

I wonder if he was looking at the wrong player perhaps, maybe Ahern
who is around the same height
Yeah numbers 6 and 9 look similar and the commentators kept mixing them up but 6, who I think was Duggan, moved well. He's pretty smart.

I liked Brayshaw but he looked to my eye a bit more developed than some of the others and I ink a couple of others had a bit more upside. I might be wrong and happy to be proven wrong, but that's just the way I saw it. He was a good player though, don't get me wrong.

ive said it multiple times. recruiting is everything. I am wrapped with The Bonts, Stringer, Macrae, Hrovat , Hunter etc.

I have full faith in the recruiting panel at our club to get it right again this year :)
I do too, but I have to say that because I know the Recruiter very well.

De Goey? the phantom drafters are rating him mid first round; I think we might end up with as high as pick 7 or 8
he has had a few unlucky injuries which I think made this his first year playing for the state side but he has shown he can be class
snapped a goal as well I think at some stage, which wasn't too different to the one Stringer did against Melbourne
I think if he can remain consistent through out the champs; then head back to Oakleigh which I believe are top of the ladder
and dominate the end of the year the way Macrae and Bontempelli did; then he might be a possibility

but like I said, he is a player that is good at everything but not a stand out at any one thing

Then ask him why he picked Howard?

I thought Clayton was the one who picked Howard?

No, it was Dally's first pick that wasn't F/S I think.

Nope that one was Simon's first case of Simon Says at the draft...just wish he hadn't of said Simon Says and it wouldn't have been true.
