to be honest, need both
outside run/flair

and a quality key back

probably will only end up with one though...:(

ah well, I'd be thrilled with either
I would at this moment take lever unless Laverde does something amazing

like post something freakish/high at the combine? because hes already getting loads of the ball and doing damage on the scoreboard

I'm real disappointed Lever couldn't play this year, hear hes grown to 194cm
still think he'd be a 3rd tall/small defender though that could hold his own against a bigger opponent if need be

He may take the key tall if he has grown to that height or maybe play as a 3rd tall if he can read the play and zone off his man and give the others a chop out , Laverde done not a lot when I watched him but I like what I seen , but hey the draft is just a guess ain't it it's all about luck

Me too. Our need for tall defenders is, IMO more pressing right now in our development that tall mids. We have enough kids to sink a battleship. And they're all good.
Yeah our youngsters look good our mids and smalls anyway

I think if we downgrade we can still get a good one in
Goddard/Lever/Marchbank and get a Duggan/Laverde/Weller/Ellis/De Goey with the next pick

some supporters would say we haven't had too much of that, any player we pick we can't really afford to have turn into a flop
that is the really lucky part, because regardless of where we're positioned in the draft; I am expecting the player we pick will be the best ;)
and that is my Bulldogs bias coming through I know

You can never afford to stuff up a draft unless you have won 3 flags in a row , dalrymple has done well the last few years even though he has a few top ten picks , I think the next 5 years will tell if he is any good

I'm reluctant to downgrade, only because history says the top 10 are the most likely to play 200 games. It's a risk that, Dav1d thinks is worth taking, but I'd rather just play it straight. Players will become much more appealing and much less appealing over the next 2 months, especially after the combine, so let's just play a straight bat, hopefully get who Dally reckons is the best player for us and then go from there with our ore picks.

Sorry if is has been covered, but did anyone hear Damian Barrett say that Jaksch was worth pick 1? I'm not sure if I heard right or if he was coupled with another player for a top pick.

We have Roughy, Roberts, Talia and will get Cordy in the draft for KPD's, I'm not sure all of them will make it but not sure we have a bigger need for Lever over Laverde (who will be a gun off half back/midfield stints).

I hate when people start a sentence off like that, not that I am saying anything is wrong with what you posted
but a family member said, history says you shouldn't draft a player with an injury high because they're likely to repetitively get injured

I wanted to smack that family member over the head when I heard that, to be honest :p

or history says a short player has a chance of becoming the next Libba senior if hes good enough at junior level

but my point is, don't let the past affect the future
that is a bigger risk imho

I think Zaine Cordy will make a better rebounding defender than a key post - a bit like Mackie. He's been reasonable in stints on tall forwards, though.

I'd probably take Laverde over Lever, but if you said 'Gun CHB or Gun Utility' I'd take the CHB.

But, what do I know. I wasn't sure at all about Bontempelli, but was very keen on picking up Collar-Jazz-Knee. I was also really keen to pick up Honeychurch but gave up hope when we traded pick 26, I thought he'd go between 26 and 42. Almost died when we got him at 60.

I think we'd have been pretty happy with either KK, Aish or Bontempelli

all seem like real quality players, think Bontempelli will be a freak though

Yeah, KK and Aish are great but what you see is what you get. A good vanilla, I suppose.

Reckon it'll be known as St Kilda's draft in time. Billings, Dunstan, Acres (?), Curren (elevation), and Templeton (why didn't we get him :( ) and Holmes (eh) as rookies.

Very happy with Bonts and Honey. Who knows with Fuller, I like him and hope he makes it but not much has gone right for him.

I think Brisbane/St Kilda/Us should all be very happy

Yeah, Brisbane nailed it too. Glad they've tied down Taylor and Paparone, it was cruel seeing all those players leave. Particularly when it didn't benefit us at all (I wanted Docherty :p). Hopefully they lock in Aish on a long term deal, I couldn't handle the Crowbot smugness if they get him.

That's actually really impressive from Anderson, his reasoning is brilliant.

I'd probably have Petracca going to the Saints if they get the spoon, somehow. Brayshaw to Melbourne, and the Giants will pick Wright, surprising nobody (**** you Silvagni, troll). I'm not quite sold on Durdin but I'd take the punt if he's at our pick. Don't think the 'go home factor' will come into play, either.

From what I've seen (which granted is limited) I'll back Lever to better than all of them bar Roughy

Mate we don't have to agree. It's cool.

I'd love to see him do a second round, but not likely to happen

I'm sure I'd grow on Durdin if we picked him :p if he could become anything like his 'player comparisons'
that would be amazing

is Durdin a red head? was curious

and of course GWS will choose Wright, they take the whole land of the Giants thing a bit too seriously

maybe we'll draft a player with serious underbite and a round face

Yeah, I guess.

I wasn't keen on picking Bontempelli over KK/Aish but I still loved the way he interviewed and played for the Knights/Metro. Durdin, not so much :p No idea, pay little mind to hair colour.

It's infuriating, stockpiling talls so their supporters on here can all bitch and moan every time there's a rumour one - shock, horror - DOESN'T want to play NEAFL in western Sydney.

A mate of mine (Saints supporter) maintains that Brad Johnson's set shot routine was as close to a real life Bulldog as we're going to get :p
