Dannnnnnnnn is going alright in that phantom draft

Laverde, McKenzie, Hayes, Menadue jeez. I know the real thing is likely to look a lot different but that is one hell of a group
If the real draft could cover that many needs, I'd be happy

even if its players I am 'iffy' about :)

Need a KPF, a KPD, outside pace and skill and a second ruck/forward is that too much to ask for? :p

Don't write off Campbell yet, still young and actually played a good game up forward this time around. Now all he needs to do is be consistent with that. He is a capable Ruckman who has done well at VFL level. Ruckman probably take the longest to develop into stars out of any position

Still think defence is our biggest issue. I know Rougheads shoulder may be an issue, but his legs and brains still work. Some of his decision making has been poor lately, and he seems to not dig himself out once he starts to fall in a hole. I am more worried about defence than our forward line to be honest, need to nail a couple of good young defenders in the draft, along with a forward

Think we can get some players in the areas we lack late or as rookies. Need geniune goal kickers as I have seen so far this year we only have one or two forwards that can take games apart goal kicking wise (Stringer & maybe Crameri) need to add to that in whatever way we can. Foster as a rookie and McKenzie. If we go tall early could we afford to wait until the 3rd or 4th round (depending on ZC) to go for a midfielder? Maybe good midfielders have appeared late... get one or two as rookies.
apparently

 sure, we need a bit of luck to

could end up covering one of those ^ we miss next year or get another; need depth in those areas

Not writing off Campbell he is going to be our no 1 ruck when Will is gone but who is going to support him when he is in Wills shoes? Is Cordy going to come good? I don't want us to move to late on this because it takes time to develop talls and by our finals window in 2-3 years we'd want a fully developed support and no1. Say we take someone this year they'd be 20-21-22 by our flag window which is okay better than moving too late and having a green kid trying to do it or a guy not up to doing it doing it.

I'd personally like us to pick up Darcy Fort as a rookie. He's shown some good signs playing for Footscray this year.

I'm pretty happy at the moment. Like I said, I didn't go in to directly look for needs but it's just fallen in such a way that I feel as though all of my picks fill needs to some extent.

I was shattered to see Durdin go at the pick before mine and am quite disappointed that a key defender hasn't been rated highly enough on my draft board to justify taking him at any of my picks, but aside from that it's been a reasonably successful draft so far.

Surely there is another 5 foot 8 mid paced midfielder that we can add to the 14 we already have ?

maybe even Durdin, maybe Goddard, maybe Marchbank

any of the 5 would probably serve us well

never been a big fan of Goddard (as a forward mostly)
but as a defender, 1v1 he stops the impacts of the best forward and has athleticism and size to compete with the big lugs or athletic type key forwards
Lever and Patton and I'll be happy ;)

Do you see Laverde as being able to develop into a tallish rebounding defender?
If so he should come under consideration or our first pick.

He's been playing mostly as a rebounding defender off half back, or do you mean more as a third tall?

If the former, he's certainly more than capable, but we'd have to reel in some of his actions at AFL level. He tends to look for dangerous options and he's been hurt with it playing half back. He's certainly got the tools there, but I think he'd be more valuable on a wing distributing the ball forward (or hopefully using his dash and skills out of stoppages if he can develop that side of his game).

If the latter, I'm not sure. He's a pretty good one-on-one player and reads the ball well in the air but I haven't really seen him play on too many guys that are taller. If he can grow probably a couple of centimetres he might have the tools to do so, but it's not something I've thought much about.

I'd say rebounding defender - I don't actually believe in the "third tall" philosophy anyway

I find it funny that the if Brisbane go past us and we finish 4th last, we could legitimately have a shot at both Wright and Durdin, but they are the two options in the vote we cant select. same thing happened last year with Aish.

Just posted on list Management, watching two VFL GAMES each week, we should draft ADAM SAAD COBURG, and rookie list ADAM MARCON WILLIAMSTOWN, both stand outs, the have skills we lack and urgently require.

I personally don't feel that Adam Saad is as good as Ahmed. I wouldn't be opposed to rookieing him but not with a main draft pick.

Really nice from McKenzie, anyone know what role he played, sounds like he got up the ground a bit more maybe? McPherson just keeps chipping away week in week out, pretty consistent for an underager, his size worries me considering were pretty set for smalls but if he's good enough he's good enough.

It was against the Northern Territory. But McKenzie has been kicking a lot of bags in the last few weeks.

Weller was nowhere and only had 13 touches

Even if we only win 1 more game for the year, one of GWS and St. Kilda, Brisbane won't go past us, they have a tough last four games plus we have percentage on them.

We can all but lock in pick 5.
Looks like Durdin is the most likely option at this point but our last three picks top-10 picks have all been successful reaches - Stringer, Macrae, Bonts, with the latter two rising late. With that logic I can also see us taking Marchbank.

Wouldn't be bummed about Durdin. Has the talent and i do think he's got it as a forward too i just get a bit spooked by his light frame. Think he's a while off AFL level body wise but yeah he's a very good footballer.
