It's a long way to go until the end of the U/18 season, let alone the interviews and and testing.
Whilst it's nice to speculate, I can see us taking a late riser in the draft just like Macrae and Bonts.
If Weller has a strong finish to the year, and tests and interviews well, could he be the one?

Honestly, I'll be disappointed if we don't take either of Lever/Laverde, unless somebody waves their magic wand and Wright/Petracca are available at our pick.

This one for me as well

Fair chance best available at our pick, 6 or 7 will be a mid fielder. I believe we will take the best available, that is a no brainer for me.
I have been told our main aim this preseason will be Kristian Jaksch GWS, we have made him a substantial offer, that he is happy with.
I am confident he will end up at the kennel next season.
Heard exactly the same Black Pup.

Does anyone think jaksch can actually play at afl level ?

Mckenzie kicked 6 today for the knights and Laverde the jets best today

A lot of the players that should go in the draft have been in the bests this week so far.

McCartin, McKenzie, Langford, McLean, Laverde, Viojo-Rainbow, Duggan, Brayshaw, Goddard, Drummond.

5 of those (Laverde, McLean, Goddard, Drummond and Brayshaw) named BOG for their respective sides.

A few are Rainbow looking like a second rounder to me now won't fall through. Wouldn't be surprised if McLean was taken before our third rounder (I hope not but have a feeling). Drummond looks to be coming back into contention having come back from injury quite well.

If we lose Higgins and Frawely jumps ship we could have picks 6, 26, 27, 44, 62 or 6, 22, 27, 44, 62 if he is paid enough.
Trades with GWS for Jakschs would be involving our first and a trade involving another club.

Laverde coming home strong

I have a feeling we'll finish above Carlton, assuming we beat GWS. I'm expecting pick 7 + 27, etc.

I think today shows that we still have deficiencies in our midfield. Boyd is spent and libba needs help from more than just Wallis, Macrae and Bonti. Laverde isn't one I can see winning many clearances plus I'd like Macrae and Bonti on the wings.

Lever probably the best available. After that we need a KPF, a middleman, class and goal kickers either in this years national or Rookie draft.

Smith would fix this but he is always injured :(

I suggested on the List Management thread, that our best bet for a forward would be to trade up with the Saints. With you post being spot on, how torn would we be, between picking Petracca or McCartin? We need both so badly, Petracca would be awesome in the centre with Libba and Smith/Wallis

Reckon we just go with best available with pick 6/7, Whether that be Laverde or Lever.
I still think while our midfield is our strength we need another gun in there, Lever will also be huge for the future backline.

Would prefer trading down than up and getting 2 picks around #12-15 for #7 we would be able to get a Marchbank and Duggan type combo. Obviously i would consider trading up as well for McCartin the only issue i have is what would we have to add to move up 6 spots? It would probably cost us a considerable amount like #7 and Hrovrat (Saints would probably ask for more) and if we did that I'd prefer to go after Boyd/Cameron who are rated alot higher than McCartin and have more years of development into them.

We would have to give up less for McCartin in my opinion, that's why I said its better to go for him than anyone from GWS. Pattons career will be shot, a third serious knee injury already, Boyd and Cameron have just become more valuable, and will be their one two punch now, they wont go anywhere. The Saints we may be able to give up a second round pick if we get an extra, and a fringe player, and swap first round picks, Saints need picks. GWS will ask us for Bontempelli, Stinger and a first round pick for an injury prone player who wont play at all next season if some games at all

How does lever compare to Scharenberg?
better defensively, not as good of foot skills, not as strong built but Lever has that extra height
both read the play really well, think Lever would/should interview much better then what we heard Scharenberg did

Lever is a player that Brett Anderson says we'll likely take at our first pick and I think its because he has some inside knowledge about the players that interest us

JMac was saying when I was eavesdropping, that the teams know mostly who will be picked where
because he was openly discussing the draft with a couple of our scouts and giving them players to keep their eyes on

I didn't hear anything about Scharenberg's interviews last year. What did you hear, out of curiousity?

just with the Western Bulldogs, I remember that he didn't interview well at all with us
not really certain why; really interested to see when he finally debuts!
