Even if Frawley gets $700k a season, Melbourne is only likely to get an end of first round compensation.
Whilst, it is possible they might get pick 3 it would attract a bit of criticism of the AFL and Melbourne. It is not like Frawley has been in great form winning AA selection lately.

So, given the talk we are very likely to have a choice between Wright or Lever.

I hope you're wright. ;)

He's the best player in the draft by a country mile, he's not dropping. The only reason Mccartin gets taken ahead of him is possibly because Stkilda are stupid and want a KPP. Which then means Melbourne will call his name out.

If petracca is clearly the best player, st kilda simply have to take him. Their midfield stinks.
So does the rest of their list, though. Full of B-list tall forwards and raw midfielders and flankers. They're gonna need a big restock of the cupboards in all area's of the ground.

Geez if its true Levers grown to 196 that makes it real interesting. As badly as I want McCartin or Wright, in pretty much the worst case situation we can still get Lever or Durdin, which would be great. But still hopefully the draft order stays the same (and no priority pick!) and its true GWS are interested in Lever, IMO that would just about guarantee us one of the two KPFs at this stage.

Am I missing a joke here or is everyone mispelling Durdin?!

It stinks!

Seriously, they just have to go for the midfield before a tall forward. The midfield is more important and they need some serious help there.

If Dees were smart they'd just draft 2 best mids at Pick 2 and 3.
It worked really well for us. I fear after the Scully, Trengrove situation they could be scared though.

With Cordy and Foster coming am I the only one wanting us to take a quick skilful mid?
Foster's no guarantee.

I agree though. I'm keen on Viojo-Rainbow. Menadue has been popular of late, too.

Lever - Menadue - Cordy - Foster.

I wouldn't be unhappy with that. I'd be even happier if we somehow managed to get Wright but I just don't see it.

I'd like that type of player too but I just think theres a fair few really good options that will be around our 2nd, so hoping to get a few picks there and then use our first on the best available tall alongside Cordy/Foster a bit later on.

Everything depends upon how all the AFL recruiters rate Zaine to bd honest. Lots of people on here rate him third-fourth round pick but that does not mean that the recruiters who watch him nearly every week do too.

If it is where we think it could be as you said if they rate him at fourth it could be:
Lever-Menadue-McLean-Cordy-Foster (possible rookie)
If they rate him higher then:
Leever-Cordy-McLean-Foster

First scenario I'd like to take a KPP second round preferably a forward as I don't feel there are any in the third round or beyond worth main list spots. Probably one of McKenzie, McDonald or Kietel (preferance to McKenzie as others are more of swingman). Be great if Wright fell cause I'd just take McDonald to give us two KPP to strengthen our spine.
Foster's no guarantee.

If we draft lever, does roughie go forward?

No he won't. Lever isn't a big bodied fullback, he will float across the halfback line where we are lacking a little. We have little depth there, so cannot afford to through Roughead forward anytime soon. Put Lever in, takes away one hole in defence, take Roughead out, we open up a defensive hole again

I think (maybe not as early as this year but not too far away) Roberts, Talia and Lever could hold down the backline. Talia and Roberts should both be able to play on the gorillas if needed, but could also both play on the more athletic talls and Lever as the main CHB/3rd tall.

I think we will convert Foster to a CHB like his dad and pick Lever first round. Cordy on the other flank and bang, there is your half back line for the next ten years.

If we draft lever, does roughie go forward?
I'd say that Lever and Roughead can play in the same backline. Aswell as Morris and Talia/Roberts.

Lever has that flexibility to play as a rebounder (Sam Fisher) or a marking KPD (Harry Taylor). Is exactly what our back six needs.

I would like to get Reid to the club but for no way for pick 5. A 2nd round pick and paying taking his 5-600K (whatever it is he is on) off Sydney's books is payment enough. Giving that pick up and watching Wright or McCartin fall to our pick would kill me.

1. Saints: Petracca
2. Melb:Brayshaw
3. GWS:Lever
4. Bris:Wright
5. Dogs:Mccartin

No doubt about it saint will pick Petracca, Melbourne wont get a pick for Frawley in the top 10 and will choose a midfielder so Brayshaw it is, GWS will go a defender and they want Lever atm, Brisbane will defiantly pick Wright and Dogs will pick Mccartin. Thoes of you who are worried about Mccartin at 193cm... Carey was 192cm. Mccartin is the best natural forward in the draft and will probably grow to 195+ anyway.

I'd be happy with any of the top 6 tbh. We need quality all over the field, so whether thats a back, a mid or a forward, it doesn't fuss me too much. Obviously a Key post is something of a more advanced need, but its equally important we find a number 1 backman, too. I rate Talia, Roberts and Roughy, but none of them are good matchups for Buddy, Hawkins, Cloke or Tippett. We need a Daniel Talia or a Brian Lake. The big fella who takes full responsibility.

Not concerned about his height , But please convince me he will end up a very good AFL footballer.
I am struggling to see it , whereas I feel very confident about Lever , if you are prepared to overlook the knee reco.

I'm all for drafting a small, journeyman half back flanker who can kick a bit, possibly from an interstate club.
Perhaps a pick in the forties should swing it. Anyone think there might be one of those out there?

Did you watch him play 2 weeks ago? That's why Lever will be gone at pick 3
