I'm all for drafting a small, journeyman half back flanker who can kick a bit, possibly from an interstate club.
Perhaps a pick in the forties should swing it. Anyone think there might be one of those out there?

That's just not funny DognBones

Interesting natedog , you don't rate him or his knee will be a problem ?
What is your opinion of McCartin ?
I rate him very highly hence why I have him at pick 3... I just think if you do your acl once its very likely to go a 2nd time and it think he will be injury prone. Mccartin is actually a mate of mine so yes i rate him highly. Hes a freak

First round:
Mccartin
Goddard - Higgins compensation pick

2nd round
Menadue
Vojo-rainbow - Minson trade
3rd round:
McDonald

4th round:
Cordy

5th/rookie
foster

I like this a lot, obviously we can't comment on this years form for Lever, however in very general terms I would prefer to draft a top 10 key forward who if it doesn't work out can move back, than a key backman.

Love that we have Cordy & Foster at picks where if we get them, we would consider overs. Not sure if Goddard would be available end of 1st round. And whilst i believe Rainbow is certainly draftable 2nd round could be one round too high.

I think we will convert Foster to a CHB like his dad and pick Lever first round. Cordy on the other flank and bang, there is your half back line for the next ten years.
It's not a silly suggestion at all - Foster was a plodder at Fitzroy and was only tried at CHB by us out of necessity, made the position his own for years.
One issue with Jayden is he isn't a pack-cruncher, an issue that isn't as big an issue at CHB.

Thanks mate , does your mate think he is chance to land with us ?

I can see gws trading up for petracca.

1. Gws - petracca
2. Melb - Brayshaw
3. St kilda - McCartin
4. Bris - wright
5. Dogs - no idea
What do you reckon GWS will offer saints?
Obviously pick 3 and who?

Foster's no guarantee.

I agree though. I'm keen on Viojo-Rainbow. Menadue has been popular of late, too.

Lever - Menadue - Cordy - Foster.

I wouldn't be unhappy with that. I'd be even happier if we somehow managed to get Wright but I just don't see it.
Menadue probably this year's bolter based on the hype, think he ends up going first round.

I hope not, but it could happen.

It'd be nice to snag him given the KPPs we're likely to bring in. Still torn on where DVR goes, I'd be happy to spend our second on him, but I'd be stoked to get him with our third if we could get Cordy with our 4th.

Ha I was thinking the same thing. I think we should give Hingle McCringleberry a contract, he'd go alright as a deep forward.
More a fan of J'Dinkalage Morgoone and Xmus Jaxon Flaxon-Waxon myself. Think they'd make a great duo up forward.

Prediction... We'll be screwed over in 2014 in a similar vein to the GWS, GC and Melbourne draft tampering 'Jack Viney' debacle of 2012.

If the 2012 draft was us getting bent over and 2014 will be more of the same..???

Which couch would the afl like me over and can someone help me loosen my belt please.. I can handle a 2012 repeat again, and again, and again... :)

Assuming Melbourne has no bonus pick from Frawley/PP, Saints going #1 to #3 and GWS taking Petracca still gives Saints one of the two KPFs. I suspect O'Rourke + 3 + 19 would do it, giving the Saints an extra top 20 pick.

Over on the Saints board, they appear to be demanding a GWS first-team mid for the upgrade, so if those are the terms I'd probably go 'meh' and just take another KPF if Petracca and Bradshaw were gone.

i'd reckon there's more incentive for the saints to make that deal (JOR + 3 + 19 for 1) than GWS - the saints are really no worse off with P3 as opposed to P1, because they need quality all over the park.

if that deal didn't get up, would you see GWS looking to ship out 19 in another deal?

My working assumption is Melbourne get their not-compo pick for Frawley, and O'Rourke and Jaksch are going to Carlton for their #7 after Carlton bid for Moore and fail, and then we use 4, 7 and 19 (best tall, midfielder with pace and high-upside project player) and then say 'pass' a lot.

St Kilda want another pick, but they dont have anything to trade we want, unless they are willing to pay cap room as well as an experienced player (GWS is strapped for cap, seeing we have all these kids who need to get paid or they walk).

That said, I could see us packaging our end of first, our second and our third to someone for a higher first rounder ...

I'm not sure I'd be that excited with Durdin. I've seen him live on 4 occasions and he's been a pretty mixed bag. He does some amazing things then some very frustrating things. He reminds me a lot of Lachie Hansen, both in his style and I can see him having a similar sort of career. What I mean by that is he's probably going to frustrate us for the first 5 years (like Hansen), getting his body up to scratch then maybe one day he might put it all together. He might not though either.

Maybe Marchbank or Goddard at a real stretch.
