Patton and Hogan are in the range I listed, Boyd and Daniher have had to play relief ruck at times
That is a benefit not a negative. The rocca brothers went into the ruck plenty of times during their careers.
Even Barry Hall took a lot of the forward line stoppages.

Key Forwards have been having to do ruckwork for ages, now there are some players who can be genuinely good at it.

Failing Wright, both Durdin and Lever will be available at pick 6 who both have the potential to be stars in our backline. Trading pick 6 would be terrible.

At least one of these guys will be available:

Petracca
Brayshaw
McCartin
Wright
Lever
Durdin

Take whoever we think is the best available and develop. Simple, somewhat boring strategy, but the most effective. Stick with the plan dogs. Don't trade pick 6 (unless for a genuine rockstar (note - Sam Reid is not a rockstar)).

its absolutely paramount we get one of McCartin, Petracca, Wright and to a lesser extent Lever.
If we happen to trade up, would you be fine getting Petracca even if Wright or McCartin were still there?

Nup Wright or McCartin first, if somehow both McCartin and Wright are gone we obviously need to get him.

It's a hinderence imo, only Tippett, Rory Thompson and Carlisle are the KPPs that are any good at over 200cm in this current day. Roughy is 200/201 but he ain't that good.

Standard KPP height for a forward is 194-198cm think Patton, Hawkins, Cloke, Josh Kennedy here and defenders it's 192-197cm, Grundy is one of the best defenders in the league, he's only 192. If you're over 200cm as a KPP you have to be quick and powerful and have some agility, most of them don't so are only good as rucks or ruck/fwds who bring the ball to ground and look for mismatches when resting.
Wright's a natural forward. His ruckwork is another string to his bow.

We don't need to worry about 'standard KPP height.' We need a tall guy who can lead, mark, kick and wrestle. Wright can do all of that, and if he's tall and mobile enough to relief ruck too, I don't see how that's a bad thing.

We've also watched in horror as the 200cm forwards you've mentioned have torn us apart. Don't we want a slice of that?

I'm a little surprised we're having this discussion, to be honest. Getting Wright would be a huge boon for us. McCartin might appear more natural, but only time will tell as to which ends up the better player. Personally, out of the two, I'd take Wright (especially if we managed to keep Jones and get Foster).

If we have our pick it has to be McCartin or nothing else. Wright looks like a clone of Sam Jacobs and Lachie Henderson mixed together but looks a natural ruckman to me from the highlights of him of the championships, excellent tap work, looks for where his on ballers are at his feet, it's a bonus he is agile and can play forward but looks a natural mobile ruckman.

For me it's McCartin and nothing else if we don't land a trade for a star/gun prospect with pick 5/6.

I think I read somewhere Bontempelli was too big to be a midfielder at 194cm and there was fears he might grow a further 196/197cm. Now there's fears over Wright being too big.

Wow, what a terrible problem that would be...

He'll just play at centre half forward if he does....oh wait he rests there already

I just think that Wright will be a better ruck than forward, he has nearly everything covered to be a great mobile ruck, if we get him and that happens then we'll be short a KPF again.

Fair enough. Personally, I've seen Wright play one of the best games (if not the best game), that I've seen from a player this year and that was when he was playing mostly as a CHF. He was marking nearly everything and worked very well up and down the ground. I've also seen him play a couple pretty average games up forward and some very good games in the ruck so I can sort of understand. At FF the cannons have tried him a fair bit and I've been mostly left disappointed. But that one game I mentioned above as well as some bits and pieces when played higher up the ground, has convinced me he has a future as a CHF. I don't think he's that dissimilar to Tom Lynch (Gold Coast) who is 199cm.

It's extremely bad juju to play a kid like him in the ruck full time anyway. Better off letting him play forward for a couple of years til his body develops. Look at the talls that could play forward but went straight into the ruck, they all end up falling apart: Luenberger, Warnock, Dixon etc.

I've made that comparison before as well. I might have seen the game you're talking about. Looked a natural CHF and ran all day. His defender couldn't keep up.

Was against the Northern Knights.

I've mentioned before, that I just think he lacks some aggressiveness which is my biggest concern on him.

Totally agree and he doesn't take as many contested grabs as you'd think for someone of his size. Not sure if it's a confidence thing or if his arm strength out stretched is no good. Either way, stuff he can work on.

thanks for the reminding

we were defending horribly though, around the midfield
kept giving them the space to run into and once they had that, couldn't catch them :(

they'll probably use it to get Beams though, a sure thing

there is footage of him up on Youtube actually

was a bit quiet when he went back to the Jets as well, took a massive mark one week though
has a whole bag of tricks

Is it just me or does he remind anybody else of Bonti, great highlight package.

If you have not heard already, he is a natural forward not ruckman. what part of this do you not understand?

who was that slicing in off the wing at the opening bounce?
Pickett?

I'll assume you've all seen this, or some of it, but the 1st play is Wright to McCartin

I was really hoping the AIS squad would win when I saw that, Wright didn't look uncomfortable at all matched against Quiten Lynch

pretty sure they let Duggan take a good majority of the kick ins as well, don't think he missed a target except for a few times he put over the top in front of his team mate

the curtain raiser for next years game showed a player that had missed out for most of the season that showed some real pace
Nakia Cockatoo was bursting around everywhere, though his kicking looked a little off you would expect that considering he missed the whole year just about with a foot injury

For fans of Jensen from the VFL side. He will apparently be rookied or is expecting to be.
My brain is currently replaying that awful kick of his in the grand final.
Is he usually a good kick? I haven't seen enough of him.
