McKenzie is a poor mans Boyd
;)

Maybe you're right, so what do you like about Ellis? I don't think Lamb has the right attitude to best develop around such a young list

yeah, I've watched Hammelmann live 2-3 times and definitely think he has something to work with
but perhaps we could do better

I just hope that a few KPDs are there or KPP Swingmen
Morris been a veteran, Roughead dominated by the athletic Key forwards; really only leaves Talia & Roberts as our final hope in the future
and I'd still like to see Roberts trialed as a forward yet and get hopeful young gun KPD in the draft

Losing Jones though, Boyd is going to need a hand down there or we are back where we started in terms of Boyd getting double/triple teamed.

True

not sure how he compliments Boyd, might be worth a punt

I can't think of too many players that are key forwards/position players that would

Keitel maybe, I don't know; just something that I like about his game that I think would suit playing with a big power forward

I think Payne could but he needs some time.

Besides Matt Hammelmann & Tyler Keitel, I can't see any tall forward prospects that really jumps out in the second or third rounds.
Anyone know of/rate higher other forward prospects in that range?

Got to be Creeper

 I want to make a sign for him
Don'tFearTheCreeper :drunk:

Haha, that could almost get him over the line come draft day.

But I thought he was a defender mostly? (Also needed though).
I agree with Skippos that I think he looks better suited to a forward role

but if he ends up as a defender you are right, need those to

Payne maybe in the third. Ramsey if he plays as a half forward
If we get Ramsey, I hope there are no mean nicknames awaiting him :p

I'd just call him The Pirate :P. Payne is a ferocious tackler maybe we can make a banner saying "dishing out the Payne" if we get payne :P

All very fair. He's certainly got attacking down to a fine art, but it's the combine results that really get me. He's never going to be a super tester but he has a hell of a lot of work to do to get his endurance up to scratch. My worry with him is that he becomes a Veszpremi type; all the talent in the world and a top performer in the lower leagues but just lacking the ability to get to enough contests to make it in the AFL.

For me, I see him as somebody that could be worth a punt as a 'diamond in the rough' type in the latter stages of the draft, but I'm not sure I'd be spending a pick too high on him. Where do you see him going?

Too hard to say because of all the variables regarding who is left, which clubs need what etc but if I was to take a guess I would say Smith goes between 25 and 35. Surely he won't slide past that.

There are really only two smalls I'd be happy with. McLean because he is simply the best one to fit our needs, think a player similar to Robbie Grey (there must be few people making that comparison if Oakleighs talent manager says that comparison in an interview) around the ground who likes leaping on people's heads (not saying that he is that good but he has a higher ceiling than Lonie). I think he could bolt into the mid-late second round easily.

Agree with goodcop badcop that McDonald at our second is a little early he or Keenan Ramsey should be available at 39.

The second is Daniel... because he is an absolute freak.

But he is a midget and will get absolutely smashed in the AFL. The thing about smalls is that they don't have to be 'small', they just have to be able to play the role. I'd almost consider Lance Franklin a 'small' such is his athleticism. If our list needs a small forward or defender, I hope we at least target someone 182cm+. But agree, McLean is a very good footballer. I just don't think we need more short guys with Dahl, JJ, Hrovat and then guys like Libba, Smith, Hunter etc running around.

i know this may sound stupid to some, but i am a bit worried about taking players from WA. Especially Aboriginals. Its more the home sick factor, and Garlett has turned me off lately also with his bullshit..

I like the fact that we are developing a strong list primarily of Victorians actually

Yeah I'm starting to like Keitel a lot more now that we've got Boyd, agree he suits playing along side a gorilla type, I like how he can get up the ground and link up in the play pretty well. I want another KPF with at least one of our picks but it definitely has to be a 2nd tall/CHF type rather than someone like McKenzie. I'm liking Keitel and Payne, don't mind Hammellman either. Any genuine kpf/2nd ruck options around for our later picks? Really wish we got Ben Brown now, would have been fantastic alongside Boyd :(

Really excited about this draft, we have enough picks to cover quite a few needs.

I was serious when I said Creeper :)

So with the 5 picks, we seem to need:

1. At least one key forward (hammelman, Mckenzie, keitel)
2. At least one key defender (macdonald. Anyone else?)
3. one running half-back (menadue, v-rainbow).
4. one speedy mid (anyone??).

Running Half-Back- Jackson Nelson, Edward Vickers-Willis, Daniel Capiron, Josh Glenn
KPD- Keenan Ramsay, Sean McLaren, Daniel Nielson
Speedy mid- Jason Castagna, Jordan Cunico, Daniel McKenzie

went different players then you already mentioned, there isn't many other forwards
maybe Nick Coughlan & Jack Cripps are options

If Ellis slid, I know hes played off of half-back; not sure how speedy he is though
Duggan could

I'm hoping Marchbank still slides for another KPD, think its completely possible as well
our Talia was rated top 20 and we got him at 39 and Marchbank has had some injury issues over the years

There are always sliders. You just never know. Gotta get one of those key forwards though surely.
