There are always sliders. You just never know. Gotta get one of those key forwards though surely.
What if we don't rate any of those key forwards? I would hope that would mean we pass

and definitely, I wonder what shock sliders there will be this year
some might even miss out completely

Hopefully these guys are available:

Marchbank, Reece McKenzie, Duggan, Menadue...

And

Caleb Daniel. The only non-Vic id look at, he will probably slide due to his height (167cm), but his lack of height is a great point of difference, and along with being top 5 quality on talent, will surely draw an incredible number of free kicks.

Id take him at pick 26.

re: daniel - Chris25 (i think) has him written up as 90%+ disposal efficency with 20ppg at the championships. stunning stats.

sound kicking and great decision making as strengths - something that we're desparate for. played open age in SANFL this year.

we've got 5 picks in a 19-pick range in the range he's under consideration...i just don't think that dalrymple is going to go another midget (honey, hrovat, daniel on one list?).

Can't see us picking Daniel unless he's available in the rookie draft. He may go 50+ in the National Draft. Clearly got the talent, but the height is just crazy for the modern game.

Good luck to him wherever he ends up - which he will.

Only sub 180 player I could see us taking in the National Draft is McLean simply because he plays taller than he is and has all the skills and abilities we need and fits the whole "wins the ball in a contest" we have been drafting with recently. I think Daniel will be a very good player just not for us.

don't think we'll take either to be honest

probably done taking players shorter then that

you're obviously on the mclean wagon, wiz! jamie elliot sorta player by the sounds of things...how does he play at the foot of bigs and around the packs. we've traded in a monster FF - there's going to be a spot for a small with a nous for crumbing and a nose for a goal.

not Honeychurch?
not Dahlhaus?

Depends on what we are thinking with Dickson because any role that he'd be doing would be the same as McLean.
chalking up games in the VFL?

Bit like Elliott bit like Grey (port) don't like using comparisons. Elite footskills, finds a lot of the footy, sets up goals and turns games on its head to go with his incredible marking ability. Rate him very highly.

If even one of those guys slides to our pick, we'd all should be absolutely stoked. I personally have them all top 20 players. I might be accused of overrating Duggan, but I have him borderline top 10.

Personally I think we have shown we are willing to take a punt on a more skillful player who is short than a taller fellow who is lacking. I would be surprised if we diverted from this.

Knightmare's updated draft has us getting-
26 McKenzie (the flanker not the tall)
27 Howe
39 Cripps
45 Hammelman
46 DVR

Wouldn't be the worst result. Haven't heard much about Howe & haven't seen Cripps' name mentioned scince his big champs game.

Dan McKenzie is a third round pick in my books. Wonder what made Knightmare put him up into the second round ditto Dan Howe.

Don't want Cripps reminds me too much of Jones. Hammelmann and DVR yes I would like

not Honeychurch?
not Dahlhaus?

can both obviously play in the role.

dahlhaus i think is more natural in the role, but with cooney, griffen and tutt all gone from the midfield rotation - he's going to be needed up the ground for his burst and carry. honeychurch i have more as a goal-kicking midfielder (brent harvey) than a stay at home forward pocket (milne / eliott).

So with the 5 picks, we seem to need:

1. At least one key forward (hammelman, Mckenzie, keitel)
2. At least one key defender (macdonald. Anyone else?)
3. one running half-back (menadue, v-rainbow).
4. one speedy mid (anyone??).

And doesn't the key forward need to be someone who complements Boyd?. Isn't McKenzie just Boyd-lite? Boyd is said to be the 'out of the goalsquare, roaming inside the forward 50' type. To me that suggests we need a more traditional athletic centre half forward. I don't know who that is, but that is the type of forward I'd target (a Jake Carlisle type.)

Sorry don't like it at all, if we were going to take a McKenzie it has to be Reece at 26, it would gives us another young tall forward option.
Howe a 19 backman not tall enough to play on talls and better running half backs available.
Cripps a WA tall forward/ruck prefer to have a local boy in Reece McKenzie and Hammelman i haven't seen at all.
Rainbow OK at 46
