No that's the order she rates them, not the order she would take them. The best 1-30, but each club has requirements that are different. She mentions that in this years draft all clubs top 5s would be different. Which makes it a very interesting draft.
This year I get the feeling clubs will be drafting on a needs based style. Particularly the earlier picks,
Really looking forward to seeing the strategy of clubs involved at the pointy end of the draft. With picks 26/27 I think we are in the position of just sitting and hoping.
Interesting that Wright rated so high by Emma but is expected to be drafted later, Shifter Sheehan has Wright high also.

Interesting that McDonald & McKenzie don't even make the top 30... This promises to be one of the most even drafts in memory.. Our recruiting team will be working double time this year

I spoken to 3 scouts and a list manager - none had him in top 40 5 weeks ago.

That was what I was trying to allude to. As I have mentioned I have no idea really about potential draftees other than what I have read.
However with this draft being very even, according to many. I really think a slider might be available. Whether we go with that slider or stick toa strategy is what interests me most

If McLean is off the board, then no not really. Can he play as a small forward as well. Any runs on the board in that department, not just a small scrappy defender.

He played as one in the final game against Vic Country in the Champs and kicked a clutch goal
even though it was scrappy but we definitely need some more 'x-factor' across the ground

I just hope that we take one 'pure' small forward in this draft which would be one of McLean/Lonie/Daniel and maybe smith. I really don't think we have one except maybe Dahlhaus and hes getting pushed further and further away from goal. Think clubs these days are making mistakes not drafting these type of forwards earlier. Different type of player but Tom Rockliff only played as a forward as under 18's and all clubs thinking must have been that he wasn't versatile enough even though experts were screaming that he should have been drafted. Same with Elliot and Bruest. These type of asset forwards can be found in the 30's, 40's and 50's. We should snare one and I wouldn't be upset if we got 2. Bevo will know the importance that small forwards had at Hawthorn (Rioli, Bruset, Puopolo) all 3 of which could be classified as pure small forwards. We need some more ones with speed and class.

My draft philosophy for this year is that we take 4 smalls/medium players (mix of def/mid/for) all with speed and skills and just the one KPP. Rarely are good KPP's found after the first round. Good small forwards/outside mids/rebounding flankers etc can all be found all the time in our draft range (25 - 45). Lets go get em all.

Do you happen to know what McLean is like in terms of speed?

He's pretty pacey wouldn't say hes super sharp but you add that with his marking ability and his evasiveness, agility, accelaration hes extremely dangerous. Comparisons to Jamie Elliot are pretty spot on, another comparison would be that he has a similar skillset to Lachie Hunter albeit more natural around goals whereas Lachie's more natural on the wing.

I just like the thought of getting a small forward or two this year. Think that thought process that all small forwards should have the versitility to play in the middle is a little overrated. Look at Hawthorn, Bruest Puopolo and Cyril (somewhat to do with his injuries) all spend minimal time in the middle, but they are the perfect small forwards and provide their midfielders with the rest they need by applying enormous forward pressure and generating so many scoring opportunities. Hawthorns midfield rotations come from the bench only really and not through the small and medium sized players at either end (rarely does stratton and birchall go through either).

Smart thing is that Hawthorn have had 3 - 4 geniune big sized tall forwards to surround these little guys (Hale, Buddy (gone), Roughead and Guntson) If we could add someone like Reece Mckenzie to our forward line as the 2nd ruck/tall forward then we would have 3/4 talls in Boyd, Stringer, Mckenzie throw in Bonts occassionally too and surround those guys with a Dahlhaus, McLean and Lonie. Then our forward line looks bloody dangerous.

Also small forwards like Dahlhaus, Lewy Taylor, Jeff Garlett have had pretty earlier impacts for their sides. McLean and Lonie could add that too.

Haven't seen him much and not sure if he is a high flyer. McLean as we all know is though.

well he has a 94cm running vertical leap

so he can at least jump, takes some good grabs in his highlights
but nothing like McLean I guess
