Yeah absolutely fits the bill then, wouldn't mind a bit of extra pace on him and maybe some cleaner footskills but hey if he was perfect he'd be going top 5 :p
I don't mind his kick but reckon he punches it through a bit with his hands. Seems an amazing character though

If we don't take a runner or a damaging attacking player with one of our first two picks, I'll be filthy. McDonald & Vickers-Willis would be a joke.

I can understand the selection of Vickers-Willis because of his versatility & football smarts, the latter we're sorely lacking, however I see little merit in selecting a Key-Defender with one of our first picks when we're currently pretty well-stocked in that area, as opposed to a run & carry player, something we don't have (certainly not an AFL-standard one anyway).

No to McDonald while we have Roughead, Roberts, Talia, Z.Cordy & Morris on the list.

We should be taking one of Menadue, D.McKenzie, Garlett, Lamb, Blakely, Lamb, Cavka, or any other runner/high quality kicker I'm missing with one of 26/27.
IF we had pick 5 and the top KPF were both gone, then I would want Lever but none of the other KPD really excite me at our first 3 picks. Would love another inside mid and 2 faster mids at our first picks.
Would take Lamb and any of The speedsters before EVW but think most of them will be gone.

I'm a little worried that we're going to go with E.V.Dub and McDonald and not address that need for outside speed with our second round picks. I'm not really sold on apparent Nick Maxwell clone Vickers-Willis, kinda hope he's gone by 26 tbh but wouldn't mind him too much as long as our other second rounder is a D.McKenzie or Menadue type (or, in dream land, Garlett or Cockatoo).

Just on Connor Menadue, I know nothing about him or where he is likely to be picked up.
What are his strengths and weaknesses?

Let's be honest GrandBlue - you'll be filthy no matter who we pick! :p

Comes across as a player who likes to have his 10m sprints before dishing off a pass or a shot on goal

what are his disposals like when exposed in high intensity games?

Has he beating any quality opponents when tagged?

what sort of a player is he likely to turn into. a player comparison?
Wouldn't really know about his disposal in high intensity games as I haven't really seen him in too many of them, but agree that its very important. He's definitely stepped up in finals big time before so I guess that sort of indicates its pretty good?

I'd say an Isaac Smith or even a bit like Bobby Murphy. One thing I like about him is that while he's got the outside part of his game down pat he's still very skinny but tackles really well and is not afraid of a bit of contact, or to win his own ball. Can play off half back, through the middle or up forward too but I'd be looking to settle him on a wing and let him wreak havoc running up and down the ground delivering inside 50 and kicking goals. Good overhead as well.

Also is a doggies supporters :thumbsu:

Twomey's Phantom Draft:
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-11-25/the-phantom-draft

Has us taking Menadue & Wigg with our first 2 picks, overlooking Vickers-Willis. Guessing he's not getting the same mail as the posters here?
Most of my mail is from Twoomey :p

He just swaps around a lot

Not sure how I feel about Wigg, because he is good at attacking with his kicking and he didn't test at the combine due to an injury

agree with your earlier point about taking a key defender, if we can't make the most of it with the defenders we've got...

Personal preference is that we look for a balance of disposal skills and speed - in that order. We've seen from the Tutt experience (although I am still disappointed he's gone) that pace and pace alone won't cut it. With an improving forward line (Boyd, Stringer, Crameri et al), we need better delivery to take advantage of this. The ball moves faster than the man, so let's prioritise this. Best available distributor both in the open and under pressure - provided they aren't really, really slow. I can remember Gilbee (and others) slotting near impossible balls into a crowded F50 - with Johnno being the target. If we can repeat this with Boyd/Stringer on the other end, our scoring will improve markedly.

We have 5 picks, and really need another KPD and KPF - but only if they are true KPP size. No point having 27 3rd defenders/forwards on the list. That would leave 3 picks for midfielders - two distributors and one speed merchant if possible - assuming that a KPF and KPD is available.

So - if R McKenzie is available - let's take him - otherwise let's not reach for a KPF. Is McDonald true KPD size ?? If not, let's not take him unless we are convinced that Talia/Roberts isn't going to make it. Who else fits these criteria ?

FWIW, I don't think R McKenzie will slip to us - so that leaves us a decision to take 2 mids early, or a mid and a KPD. I suspect we'll take McDonald if he is still there. Need a good distributor with the other pick, not just a big midfielder...

We're looking (IMO) at a rough year next year - perhaps we can pick up a true KPP next year and try for immediate impact this year with run and carry and good distribution ?

Also I believe that McLean has some of the best vision and ball use in this draft both in space and in congestion.

On McLean I have his whole background...
He played at Narre Warren and won best and fairest every year he played then at 15 his father passed away and he lost his way as you would....
He then came back and went to the stingrays and they turned him away ... attitude not skill....
he then tried out and got into what we now know the prmiership team...
My reports from his fellow players is that his clean.

For his sake and a great story hope he gets picked

Callum Twomey knows jack all, but if Menadue slips to us I'd be stoked. Top 15 talent IMO.

Didn't focus on this draft much but I would go for
26) Menadue
27) McDonald/EV
39) Keitel
45) Lonie
46) Wigg/Cunico

Once he gains some weight and bulks up. Will become a deadly player along side Bonti.

What in particular are the character concerns around Tom Lamb?

Cause at 27 he could be worth the risk.

I've changed my mind about a million times but I think i've settled and would be VERY happy with this:
26) Menadue
27) Vickers-Willis
39) Webb
45) Keitel
46) Nielson

Some say he is self centered or dumb. Others say he is too stubborn.
I think it is stubbornness and really want him at the dogs. Under the right guidance, he could become a great tall midfielder that will be the envy of other clubs! Would be great for any team to use head to head against a Bonti, Macrae or Stringer....
I want him before many of the other first round mids as I think he is misunderstood, rather than having attitude problems.

Pains me so much more knowing Duggan is a Dogs fan and we will miss out on him, one if my favourites. Now I will get to hear rumours of his chasing him for the next 10 years because he grew up a dog's fan ala Carlisle :D

There should be a rule that we get automatic access to all Bulldog's supporters prior to them being eligible to be drafted ;)

Heard somewhere (can't remember where) that his field kicking is very poor but his kicking for goal is good, bit of a worry if true. Could be down to attitude again though if his kicking mechanics are good but he just doesn't care when kicking it during general play.
