One of the funniest things I'd seen was Patrick McCarthy doing a yo-yo test at Visy in 2010.

First to drop out and walked around swearing and looking as wasted as a teenager at Ibiza.

I wonder if our club employs the same method as the Doggies re: recruiting.

McCartney has overhauled the previous recruiting system which he said focused too much on one particular trait a player had.

There's now a mathematical scoring system in place that gives draftees a rating out of 100 (which they calculate from categories such as speed, disposal, marking etc which is then calibrated to that players specific position) and that is how they order/rank the draftees.

These draftees are then divided into groups by position (KPP, Midfielders, Ruck, Utility etc) and if they decide to pick for need, they simply take the best available from whichever group is relevant, however, if they wish to go best available - they take player with the highest overall score, regardless of which group they are in.

I dare say we would have a similar system in place?
I did wonder if the lack of such a system was why that Geelong recruiter bailed on Carlton. Pretty sure he said something along those lines at the time.

Thank god those days are gone :)
O'Haiplin shuffling around looking for an out.
Grigg grimacing through 200mt jogs.
Bower on his haunches whilst Kreuzer was pushing through the yo-yo 5 minutes on.

Even Gibbs and Murphy looked ordinary whilst Walker moved like a jet.

The standard is much higher and will be much higher again, having lost a few more that didn't like this training stuff...........Looking at you Waite.
Wood looked dead this year sure, but at least he was genuinely trying.

So Frawley is going to the Hawks. Does anyone have any idea of what the contract will be like ??? They generally don't pay overs for their players, so there may be hope that the contract isn't large/long enough to become a Band 1 compo pick and we can retain #6 !!!!!!!

Wasn't it because he had been there 5 minutes and Rogers and Hughes were going to go for Cripps over whoever he thought was better and sooked up about it.

It was because he though Rogers would move over for him to very soon take over. Once Rogers starting setting the foundation for a long successful stint he decided to progress his career elsewhere.

Rogers only just got the senior job. While the role may have been over sold he moved to Richmond to take a similar role, so I think there has to be more to it.

The fact that he was prepared to leave Geelong, who gave him a chance, in the middle of the season taking their IP with him says a bit about his character.

Caleb Daniel 16.1 in beep test.

So elite endurance. Could be enough to overcome being the shortest player @ the combine.

Would you draft him over Tutt ???

So many elite, but tiny, players seem to be over looked of recent years. Is it better to recruit someone with promise and turn them into a small forward over going for someone in the system who hasn't shown a hell of a lot ???

Very similar and might cost less than Tutt. Hartung is another small one that looks handy in the midfield.

If he's anything like Lewis Taylor, I don't know why being short is so bad. If you can play, you can play. No matter how tall you are.

I agree. I think that the perception can be "short = unable to compete physically" however I would rather a short, talented goer than a tall, lanky guy who doesn't have the attitude required to succeed *cough, Bootsma, cough*

Yep, to an extent that's correct but his best position is half forward flank and I can see him continually being out-marked with our poor ball movement going forward. Not against taking him with a late pick if he's available or better yet rookie draft providing he slips that far.

I know fairly confidently that he felt that it was too big of a Carlton old boys club, and that Andrew McKay was the one who wanted Cripps after only seeing him a few times where Luke didn't rate Cripps more than a late 2nd rounder, McKay over ruled him, Luke went to Sticks with his concerns in which the response was McKay is a Carlton legend and if he believes in it strongly enough I am prepared to back him in, in which Luke immediately handed in his resignation.

If true , I don't blame him for leaving then
