Good luck to Kane if he does get that lifeline. Didn't work out for him at Carlton but he does have talent and if he manages to forge a career for himself elsewhere then good for him.

I certainly can't hold anything against someone being cut by the club only to reignite their career elsewhere.

When we had the "which of the 4 would you keep" thread a few weeks back, I advocated delisting Kane because he was too talented to fade away and surely he'd get a gig elsewhere. Just needs a coach who believes in him...

Good luck, young fella!

From the last few years, we can expect a few things in the first round:

1. GWS to shock a few and select a player type above what they're expected, just because they can.
2. Melbourne to pick some outstanding talents, only to ruin all hope of a successful AFL career.
3. Geelong to select a 'Stephen Wells Special' and pick a bolter no-one would've thought of them to pick.
4. Brisbane and St Kilda to clean up, being announced on the 'winners list'.
5. Carlton fans to get around their new top draftees (19 + 28) no matter who they are.

Bring it on.

Knightmare now has us with:

#19: Menadue.............Garlett @ #20 Ahern @#21
#28: McLean...............Blakely @ #30, Viojo-Rainbow @ #37, McKenzie @ #41
#61: Boekhorst
#65: Payne

Would we take McLean @ #28?
Just can't see it myself and Mendaue before Ahern?

He doesn't have us taking the higher rated players because it makes it easier to say we have no good young kids :p

Langford going early is part of the puzzle in getting Weller or Duggan to slide :p
Their just rumours. I don't think Pies have any real interest getting Langford ahead of Laverde if still available, keep in mind their stuck in the middle of GWS and have to play their cards right to avoid being bullied come draft day.

Weller or Duggan would be happy with either but still hard seeing both classy mids dropping that low

Feel Ahern may drop, I actually rate Ahern and be happy see him at Blues

KM was widely lambasted for selecting us lots of key position players, when midfield was a priority.

In this edition he's gone short.

We're not going to let him go on that one, are we? :)

McLean at #28 with better players still on offer? Can't see it but who knows.
Make a bet if you question him he'll say something like he doesn't trust Carlton recruiters to pick the better players still on offer ;)

I wouldn't be upset with Menadue at 19, he's a competitive beast, not in and under but from what I've seen he just has a massive desire to get to the contest.

May not affect us directly as Langford may have well been top 20 regardless but we'd be pretty happy should another bolter or two come through.

With players such as Maynard, McKenzie, Lamb and Blakely all possible top 18 picks, we may just get someone we didn't expect to see at #19
Not that there's anything wrong with the aforementioned but just don't think that they're on our immediate radar.
There are so many combinations & permutations, a bolter or two will make it really interesting... we just have to trust our recruiters, I don't envy their job.
But, personally I would like us to go for a tall player before a small player, as there are less good tall players to choose from.
#19. R. McKenzie and then #28. Menadue will do me just fine :)
