In all seriousness my basic thinking is this - GWS and Carlton are going to end up with say picks 5 and 6.

Dropping from 1 to 5 isn't that big in this years draft thus, it's not really worth it to other teams unless they are absolutely keen on someone.

All of ORourke, Jacksh and Watson are top draft picks which means they've got talent, but all are well behind on development for one reason or another.

I think if we are going to look for a 2-for-1 deal with another top 10 pick we are going to have to take a punt on the type of player we get back with it.

Remember Tyson + pick 9 cost Melbourne pick 2 AND 20 and they got Tyson coming off a knee reco as well as GWS having 2 top ten picks to play with, so unless we want to give up our first 2 picks we wont be getting near a Patton/Sheil type during trade week.

Maybe we could deal with the Dogs for their first and one of their spare mids like Clay Smith? Adelaide, West Coast, North etc will be harder to deal with imo.

Keeping our first pick, getting a first round priority pick while getting out hands on both GC and GWS compos would be f**king amazing..

How that happens i don't know..

I think it would be pretty easy to make happen if we just made Simpkin our chief negotiator all in discussions.

Only 1 way Stan...

Jack Steven & 21 -> Melbourne : Pick 4, 5 & 43 to St Kilda
Pick 4 & 43 to GCS - > Pick 10, Pick 19 to St Kilda

Pick 1, Pick 5, Pick 10, Pick 19, Pick 40

Yeah i wouldn't do that anyway.

Trading Steven would be nuts and Pelch said it's extremely unlikely he is going anywhere.

If I'm Melbourne I turn that down, but I'd definitely do that trade as a Saint. Jack Steven and 21 for 5, 10 and 19 a very good trade. I'd prefer to keep 43, but a great trade regardless.

Wouldn't take Caleb Daniel with our first pick, but would take him...

None of the big-name KPPs did themselves much favours AFAIC, except Moore (bloody Collingfilth!) and to a lesser extent Durdin.

We'd better hope Stanley and White become very good very quickly, or we pull off a steal for one of the GC/GWS key forwards, cos on that showing we're not getting the same level of quality here...

Pickett is exactly what we need, amongst other things.

spot on. he's my pick of the lot IMO

So...From the small sample of todays game what do we think of Wright?

i didnt get to see much and will watch the replays but i get the impress from peoples tweets and posts that he had a day out much like i saw in perth

Garlett looks decent so far.

anyone got the stats of the other games? he did some really good things from what i saw and i thought it was pickett for a while. but he was quiet over here from memory. certainly addresses some of our needs on the outside

I keep hearing he's a real athlete but he looks more of a slow plodding ruckman to me. Moore on the other hand has plenty of agility for someone of similar height.

this. so much this. i thought he looked like a hille, kruzer. best bet is a replacement for stanley, someone who can be a resting ruck. but then BS pulled out his combine results and i was confused.

im no draft expert but i definetly think a tyson style trade down could be the best result as it seems that there is no clear cut no. 1 as there has been in previous years, who else likes devon smith??

thats what i have been saying for a while. i think were better off chasing two picks inside 7 if we can get em. or look at existing players
