just on durdin, what stuck out about him when i saw him over here is how good he is below the knees and in/around the congestion. if you were looking at the big three: wright, mccartin and durdin. durdin is the one more suited to AFL IMO and has more potential IMO his body is underdeveloped but with some development he could turn into a really good player. very agile for his size.

What I think it clearly says (Wright 47 goals from 18 games v Kruezer 51 from 33 games) is that while Kruezer was certainly effective up forward, that Wright is better performed up forward than him and that Kruezer is likely better in the ruck/forward role, while Wright is likely to be more effective than him in the forward/ruck role.

Everyone also needs to bear in mind that Kruezer was extremely good prior to all his recent injury issues and that had it not been for them he easily had the ability and temperament etc to have a seriously outstanding AFL career. Unfortunately, it seems that like with Kosi, Gumbleton, and maybe even Luenberger and others, we are never going to see his best of Kruezer, due to all those injuries. He was bloody good.

What also needs to be remembered is that Wright has had a lot of back issues in recent years and that had it not been for them that he would almost certainly have been a lot more dominant last season than he was and that would probably have been a lot better overall over this past two seasons had it not been for those problems derailing his footy for a good period of time there.

I have to say I was seriously impressed with his marking in SA's 2nd last game at the champs against VC. The way he was clunking all those overhead marks so cleanly was excellent, but by far the most impressive thing was those couple of marks he took at full speed when he launched himself over the top of whoever was in front of him to mark overhead at full stretch over the top of them. It just reminded me so much of a young and skinny Nick Riewoldt it wasn't funny. There are very few who have the ability to regularly take those sorts of marks. He is damn skinny though. Noticeably thinner than the likes of Goddard, McCartin and Wright.

He is another one that is just coming back from injury and who, like Aish, in similar circumstances last year, really only showed glimpses of his best at the champs.

i dunno why but durdin reminded me more of a young kozi but more agile. someone will get a bargain with him IMO. could be best of the lot

Gee Whizz - Durdin does remind me of a young Kosi.
Maybe a bit more agile than the big Kos was though.
Gets around the ground a little easier.

Lol, you opinion flipped pretty quickly
Disagree.

I am still comparing him to Kreuzer. I merely conceded that hes similar to Kreuzer and not just a poor mans Kreuzer.

Doesnt change my main opinion though, which - do we want a Kreuzer type at all in the first place?

I dont think we do. I think we need a conventional KPP.

Having said that - of Wright can play more like a Joe Daniher then hed more than handy.

Lets see how the season ends. If either McCartin or Daniher (or Durdin or McKenzie) come out and kick more goals it might make things a bit clearer.

get some muscle on him and he could be a very handy player. looks like to have the attributes required to play modern AFL level football. same cannot be said for wright/paddy

could play fwd/could play back. gives us some flexibility

reality is none of the talls touted for top 5 are a standout. each one have big concerns over their ability to play KPF in the modern game

We need quality on every line - when u have a top 5 pick you take the best available. Last year was a key fwd in Boyd. This year sounds like a mid in Petracca. So based on that we pick Petracca

For all the hype on Petracca, McCartin kicked 7 today.

Great to hear as I'd rather grab a tall with pick 1 if they are deserving of the number one pick, i.e. if the best player is a toss up b/n a tall fwd and a mid we take the tall fwd....

If we do get the priority pick then just go with McCartin and Petracca - that will set us up nicely to move up the ladder.

We're different to Melbourne etc - they've had the high picks - we haven;'t and are in desperate need of help

It's all good folks, Gill was watching how bad we were today and will hand up Pick 2 as a compo so we get Petracca and Paddy.

:D

Was against the pretty crap Pioneers though Big R...

Not to take away from the achievement though. Gimme big Reece and Paddy ;)

Mids are easier to find. If Wright and McCartin don't have good ends of the year and Petracca is considered the best then fair enough, but if it is a 50/50 we should take the the forward.
Pelch might not subscribe to that theory any more since he used it to take Mitch Thorp ahead of Joel Selwood.
