What about Kietel? Is he as good as they say? Also another good KPF from WA is Mc Carthy from GWS did you see either play of them and do you rate them?

I haven't seen as much of Keitel as I would have liked, but again he's not playing for a very good WA team so it's hard to compare him with say Wright, who is receiving outstanding service from Ellis, Petracca, Brayshaw, Miller, De Goey and Duggan. Comparing between drafts is even more difficult, too difficult in this instance. What I will say is that McCarthy's opponents were not of great quality, while this year's talls have faced better defenders. Similarly this year's defenders have faced much better tall forwards.

I don't think we have to replace Roo with a like for like clone, because lets face it, it probably won't happen.

What i am hoping we do is that we pick up the best available and then build a game plan according to our cattle and not to settle on a game plan and draft players we think best suit the game plan.

When you lose a player like Roo it would take a miracle replace him like for like. So what do you do? You adapt, you identify other players who can offer different roles, execute different skills, you understand where football is going and arrive there before your rivals.

If we draft Wright this year and have a combination of Wright/Stanley/Lee as forwards and the club feels comfortable that they can lift us to a flag, then so be it. Just look at Powers forward line, the biggest KPF threat is Schulz but then Westhoff. They're not obsessed with having two KPF to take them to a flag and you would say they are right in contention. Hinkley identified the strengths of their list and made the adjustments accordingly instead of coming out and saying 'we need one more big KPF'. The result? The hardest working, fittest team in the AFL combined with elite talent and an even spread of goal kickers.

Also, Lambs' stocks have fallen, let's hope it stays this way so we can pick him up with our second pick, kids a jet.

Edit; let it be known that I know having two gun KPF goes a long way to winning a flag but I don't think it is the all encompassing idea that guarantees a flag. For example, I would rather an excellent midfield and a strong forward line over a strong midfield and an excellent forward line (ie. Power and their midfield and forward line over Eagles and their midfield and forward line).

Well said Hollywood.

No chance finding a direct replacement for Riewoldt so hopefully we can build a forward line which contains a range of goal kickers, Hawthorn like.

19year old Hugh Beasley, a guy i have been tracking this year for the chargers is playing VFL this week.

Watch this space player, with Langdon showing 19year olds should be drafted if thier form shows it i think Beasley could be the one this year

Apparently Langdon wasn't being talked about much before now because he'd only played the one TAC Cup game leading into the champs. Reminds me a bit from what little I've seen of him of Jamie Cripps, with that blistering straight-line speed and ability to really use it to get into space up forward.

As long as he isn't a downhill skier, I'm all for him haha. It'll be a shame if he's similar to Cripps in that respect as well.

He was playing for Melbourne Grammar, expect to see him in TAC in September.

Not questioning your views on Langdon cos TBH I know stuff all about him. Im just giving my opinion on downhill skiers. They aren't as bad as they seem, just about all clubs have them. Its just they stand out like dogs ball when they are at a struggling club.
Savage being a good current example. Some players that maybe classed as 'soft outside' players play great footy for the top clubs . You can understand why we went for Savage as he showed some exciting glimpses at the Dorks. But with Hodge, Sewell & Mitchell getting the ball out of the middle the fleet footed receivers look pretty good. As our midfield improves so will a player like Savage's worth to our side.
Take Aussie Jones , he was one of my favourites. Didn't win too many hard balls Aussie and I don't remember him taking a contested mark his whole career :p But when the Saints were up and firing Aussie was a bloody fantastic player for us. But he struggled a fair bit when we had weaker sides.
No coincidence that he won his 2 Australian Team of the Yr selections in 97 & 04.
My point is sometimes player selections like Savage ( or maybe Langdon) are drafted by the club not with the thinking of being immediately successful . But more with the long term vision that when we are up and firing on all cylinders again that this kid will strongly compliment the side.
I think the same about Milera as well. If we had a much stronger midfield Terry would be running past with a big smile on his face getting a heap of easy handball receives as he kicked running goals from 50mts out.

Now im going to do a bit of research and see who this Langdon kid is :thumbsu:

I think North went too heavy on ball winners and need to get a couple swapped for some down hill skiers with pace. All teams need some one who can get out the back and take off towards goal. Dal is a good get for them because he can work in traffic and win his own ball along with the necessary outside game. Lonie looked like he did his stocks no harm too.

He'll get drafted, currently working on his and Lonie's profile, both are very dangerous up forward and are useful to AFL sides.

whats the deal for caprion (spelling?) i thought he looked good in his game that i saw at freo oval. seemed to just make the right decisions in very tight situations, especially through traffic

Another who will be drafted, I rate him in my top 30, 27 on my Board. Spelt Capiron, his vision has been a highlight to his game.

Anouther beda boy (st.bedes) great guy who can play both ends of the ground, hard worker and above average athlete for his age.

I guess he will just get forgotten about in the KPP draft that this is which could be handy for a club like saints.

He also has trained with the saints I think over the summer or school holidays (can't remember which one) along with lamb who spent their time learning as much as they can off roo.

Haven't seen any player comparisons for him but I would guess someone like a Jamison from the blues is a fair comparison (unsure of height) with the ability to play both ends but should be a key defender in my view

Is that where he played for St Bedes? In the U18 Champs and TAC he doesn't really play as the main defender, more of a rebounding type, but I like him.

Would love to see us take Wright, a gun outside mid and then Lamb with out picks.

I think we have the leadership to get Lamb to pull his head in and be a Saint.

the play him FF in half the games and then the other half he was FB.
i havent seen any champs footy so you would know better than me.

I know when he was a bottom ager last year he played half back for the school so i guess thats his true position. Probs played him FF and FB just because he was that much better than most other people.

it was like 2012 O'Hanlon (tigers player now) played FF for st.bedes, so not the best indicator.

who do you see as his player comparison or have you not looked at him closely yet?
