Completely agree on Tomlinson he isn't the answer to our key forward problems. I don't rate him highly at all like some others do.
I get what you are saying. I know he's not the answer alone, but he could lead us to the answer for our forward line issues. Hypothetically:

Pick #1 Wright/McCartin

or trade pick #1 for pick #3 & Tomlinson & end up with:

Pick #3 Patrick McCartin/Sam Durdin/Jake Lever & Tomlinson

It's seriously worth some thought....

If we do pick up Wright, how feasible would it be to play him and 3 of Longer, Hickey, Stanley and Lee in one side? Would it automatically consign 2 or 3 of those blokes to permanent VFL backup?

Looks a very lumbering style but Garlett definitely didn't burn him off. Who knows if Garlett was just cruising though.
He lumbers, but he isn't slow, Garlett wasn't cruising, he may not have been running his fastest but he certainly wasn't cruising. PW will be scary on the lead in a few years, a 203cm forward who has a ruckman's game sense and awareness and a forward's marking and kicking.

I dont think GWS will be phased by Pick 1 TBH...Durdin/Goddard/Brayshaw/Petracca would be higher on their list that Wright & McCartin...They may even be looking at Trading out Pick 3 for 2 lower Picks.

Wright player comparison?

(Probably been mentioned elsewhere, but CBF looking.)

Jesus CHRIST!! The U16 squads have just been announced, and there's a 15 year old lad from the Geelong Falcons, Sean Darcy, who's already 200cm and 99kgs!!

I just have a feeling that they would kill to get Wright & securing him would guarantee just about the most offensively ridiculous forward line ever in the history of the game.... Talk about the 1989 State of Origin game with the forward line of Ablett Lockett & Dunstall, what about GWS with Boyd Cameron Patton Tomlinson Wright to choose from (and thats without including McCarthy 195cm, Plowman 192cm & Stewart 195cm).... Faaaaarrrrkkkkkk me!

Also dont think they care too much about mids considering they have Shiel, Treloar, Smith, Ward, Greene*, Scully, Coniglio, Hoskin-Elliott, Kelly who are already or will be absolute guns in the next 1-2 years

Getting Wright would also mean they could delist or trade Giles & another young ruck leaving their rucks as Mumford, Lobb, Boyd, Wright (Downie/Phillips to be traded/delisted)

Yeah, he's from Cobden, just outside of Colac.

No chance that you'd be a fan, Barrels? :p
:p

Mate, that's just insane at that age! Doesn't mean he's nailed on to end up any good though...

There's a kid for U16 Metro, Brock McGregor, who's 16 but already 196cm and 92kg (also stupidly big) who won their U15 Player of the Year last year... That could be more of an indicator of quality...
Yeah, he's from Cobden, just outside of Colac.
Saw that; know him? That's just crazy big for a 15yr old...

there is no really good goal kicking ruck man in the game and you can't count Roughead.
Nic Nat's best year only netted him a goal a game in 2012.
Cant see how Peter Wright works

Now the Tippett comparison makes me think differently

Nah, sorry. I can check with my family connections, but, well, most Colacians will tell you, they make 'em different in Cobden... o_O

What's your infatuation with height, barrels?
*sigh*

I'm not begging us to draft him, nor saying I know, or even suspect, anything about his ability other than he's in the Vic Country squad, nor am I saying that height is an indicator of quality... All I am saying is he is absolutely ENORMOUS for a 15yr old.

Not having a go at you barrels, it's just a general curiosity as I see you post on any draft prospect that has a certain height

Handy to know I guess...
