I'd only call Aaron Black a KPF from that list. Tom Lynch is a hit-up half forward or 3rd tall (the KPF being Jenkins & Walker), as is Darling (key forwards being McGovern/Lycett & Kennedy. They dominate because they have a big tank, roam anywhere from the goalsquare to the back flank & take the '3rd' defender

Jordan Murdoch plays as a 'small' to his KPF being Hawkins & Walker/Vardy (3rd tall is usually any one of Kersten/Menzel/Blicavs)... He also has blistering pace. Wouldnt be surprised to see him migrate to the wing once they realise Varcoe just doesnt cut it anymore
Jack Gunston is showing how much of an impact a he can make at 193 even if he's in a great team.
Remember Jack Watts was supposedly capable of playing key tall at 196.
Schulz, both Riewoldts, Pav, Cameron are some stronger names which none are taller than 195 yet are true key forwards.

They're still forwards that you can kick to in a one on one contest. They just have different attributes as you stated which is what you want in a forward line. Modern forwards don't stay in the forward 50 anymore..
I think we need a true Full Forward to start with first & foremost. Then get a CHF. By that stage Lee, White or whoever may have developed enough to be that fantastic 3rd tall option

Hypothetically, if they all reach their potential:

HF: Billings McCartin Lee
F: White Patton Templeton

I've only added 2 players that aren't on our list & already that forward line looks ****en amazing for 2-3 years time!

I agree. I'm more saying that the reason our 3rd tall (Simpkin) doesnt really work for us is because our whole forward line doesnt really work for us. Roo is on one leg, Stanley & Lee have zero confidence, & Maister is just... URGH!

If we have a big keg like Hawkins, Patton, Cloke plonked at Full Forward, the whole dynamic of our forward is turned on it's head for the better

Also, Gunstan is a ridiculously smart footballer playing in a ridiculously smart & solid football team. If he was playing for us, I doubt he'd look so good, but he'd be better than what we have IMO

How are we going to manage to get both Patton and McCartin? trade next years 1st rounder?

I feel there's 3 possibilities for our #1 pick this year:

1. Take Peter Wright or Pat McCartin

2. Trade #1 to GWS & take Tomlinson & pick #3.... Then draft best available tall KPF at pick #3 (ie: McCartin, Lever, Goddard, Lamb etc)... Meaning we get 2 KPF's for 1, although the quality may be reduced (but who knows, strange things can happen... look at Buddy taken at pick #5)

3. Trade #1 to GWS for Patton or Boyd

One of these will happen for sure

what about 4- Take Patrick McCartin
none of those allow us to have both McCartin and Patton/Boyd

McCartin likely to go #1 at this point, but I don't think he will ever be a CHF, more likely to be a stay-at-home FF.

Why #1 now, just because we will probably get it or has Wright cooled a bit? Would Taylor Walker be a good comparison for McCartin?

Not a half bad one. Walker probably a little more athletic, McCartin a little more 'traditional' (i.e rugged)...

Do people think the top couple of picks are at the level of the last few years?

Do people think that PW can be a genuine 50+ a year goalkickers at afl level?

The opp
That play on patty did does my head in.

Needs confidence in his kicking
the opportunity opened for him there but I did notice at the start of the AIS vs Collingwood he played on and snapped from directly in front 20 out.
