Rahul are you back on #teampaddy !?
I'm on every team and no team. Right now as I try to tier talent (personal ranking), I see Petracca, Wright and McCartin in the same tier, with almost nothing separating them. The race for #1 is on (like Donkey Kong, Stifler).

EDIT: But yes, Pete for me in a tight race and photo finish.

Sweet. When are you updating your big boy board?

One of them "might" get away but i highly doubt it'll be to St Kilda considering what other clubs would be after them.. But reading over these threads people go on like it's guaranteed they'll be saints . I'd put money on either GWS keeping them all or if any leave it will not be to St Kilda. (Talking Boyd, Patton and Cameron obviously).

Whoever gets them will pay dearly for it.

Every Thursday a minor edit, but first Thursday of the month is the major movement. Love what I've seen from Laverde, but is he a midfielder long term in the AFL? Last guy I felt like this with happened to be Marcus Bontempelli, and early signs look good.
Why don't the AFL just give us Pick 2 so we don't need this debate :mad::mad::mad::mad:

:D
Come on Manimal, clearly to solve the issue we need Band 1 for James Gwilt (on a mammoth salary of $200k a year over 1 year) and the PP. CP, PW, PM!

I'm hoping Corey Ellis slides. He's all class from what I've seen. He seems to have gone down most rankings recently.

If one player was good and the rest were shit, it would be a no brainer.
We have three good, and people are acting like they are all shit because its too hard to choose.

You might just be right. I don't think you are personally, but this last week has shown all 3 have great talent, question I have is if it's Jack Martin/Jaeger/Hogan/Whitfield talent. That's the type of player I want at the footy club long term.

i think its just a symptom of the top end of this draft. hasnt been something like this in a while, where the talls are all completely different and fulfill different needs. at a time when people are utterly obsessed with the next big tall.

its just a bizzare weird ass about draft

It's a forum to discuss the footy club and what we could hypothetically do, no reason to not do that ;)

Don't care what school it is that builds around KPPs, but sign me the hell up. The spine is the most important thing in football, I think we look like this at present -

Delaney
????
Dunstan
????
????
Billings

Could Bruce fill the CHF role? Who knows. For now, let's get proper a full forward then worry about the midfielders later, possibly as Free Agents. Money talks, for $50-100k extra I'd move to any club as a <22 year old trying to earn a living.
What is Billings doing in your spine exactly? Did you think we wouldnt notice? just putting his name there randomly is not real helpful.

And No- Bruce will NEVER be a quality CHF but may be a CHB in that spine.

I am a big believer in playing the %s.
Dont panic. Dont look for a messiah. Dont go for 'might be star - might never play' emotional hail mary types.
For a re-build we need 6-8 more very good- gun players to come in to the club in a short period of time.
Dont get sucked into short term fixes or thinking some messiah goal kicking spearhead is going to save us.
Just get us 6-8 very good players in the next 2 years.

this is how i feel as well.

if that player is mccartin or wright so be it. if its pertracca so be it

Billings would be the rover/ruck-rover in that spine I believe. He's hopefully gonna be the equal if not better of Dunstan so why leave him out (silly to leave two of Judd, Kerr, Cousins out of the spine when discussing West Coast's spine in 2006 as an example)

And give Brucey a go up at CHF. He's played forward much more in his life than down back.

The kids are mainly compared with the other kids in their contest. That actually makes it hard.
Are we looking at the best kids from 2003 ( Raph Clarke , Stanton, Troy Chaplin best from the first round ) or the best kids from 2008 ( Zharakis and Beams in the second round ).
I've seen Knightmare try to compare the talls, and he reated them as comparative ( if not quite as good as ) Patton, Boyd and Cameron. But not many other "experts" are making the same sorts of comparisons.

Thats not a spine then is it.
Just call it 'important players'. You cant just redefine the term 'spine' and what have the eagles got to do with it?

I would put the chances of Bruce being a successful key fwd at AFL level at 10% and his chance of being a successful key defender as 50%.
