Also to note that whilst this years performance are super important, like Petraccas massive improvement, the recruiters have been watching these guys since u/16.
Don't have any stats with me, but from all reports mccartin has been a clear standout over his whole junior career.

Without looking at fixtures I'm guessing Geelong Grammar commitments, he generally dominates for GGS and generally players must play for their school over their TAC Cup club.

I'm 99% sure he was listed in the teams the other day when I was looking at them so he must be a late withdrawal for some reason. No idea what it could be though.

I thought that Hughy Goddard was a potential pick 1 a year ago and Wright was then the next most likely. Every year the order shuffles as the championships and TAC form let guys show off their wares. To me Petracca is a stand out, he reminds me of Chris Judd the way he just drives through traffic like a truck and can kick goals at will. Could be the best player in the AFL in a few years.

Dead keen for Petracca as the Freo game showed what we could do if we got on top in the midfield (and off half back) and delivered it well to our fwds. We need elite mids to get the ball in our fwd line and trust in the fwds to keep it in. We also need a tall fwd to take over from Roo when he finishes either end of 15 or 16 (that's just me being hopeful). Either this year or next year we need to get a quality tall fwd in but I don't think McCartin is it - Boyd and Patton yes.

If we cannot get Boyd we should take Petracca. We need a KPF sure but there does not seem to be a rolled gold in this draft and Petracca looks absolute 100% bet.

Judd is a good example, but there are other " best players in the AFL " that were never expected to be that good. I'm not convinced its that easy to predict.

For me it's either Petracca or a trade for Boyd, then yes, Schache next year. 197cm and agile with a kick like a mule apparently.

Did some digging on Hardwick; he's a 2015 prospect... The review below is hilarious (with thanks to the Mad Monday Show's Justin Bertuleit)...

Blake Hardwick (Eastern Ranges)

A medium forward. Great mark especially overhead, and also on a lead. Leaps well to the ball, and was rarely beaten in a marking contest. Took several contested marks against close checking defenders. An underage prospect. Has a shit haircut, shaved at the front with a mullet (party) at the back. On several occasions he was in scoring distance, but weighed up his options and found teammates in better positions. Was very dangerous forward of centre, but did score inaccurately in front of goal. Finishing with two goals and five behinds. Definitely a draft prospect for 2015.

I know. But he's looking a very high level player and the good mids are generally a little easier to pick than first round talls. He has something about him that just makes me think of Judd or Dangerfield. Big bodied and smooth moving. I'd even take the next Olly Wines.
