This and also school footy is a really big deal when you are at school. At my APS school a teammate played APS footy on a Friday and went behind the schools back and played for Calder on the Sunday. He got in a lot of trouble from the school as they thought he should prioritise school footy. It has changed a bit since I was at school (late 90's) in that schools are more open to the idea of the under 18 competitions and the need for the players to put themselves in the shop window so to speak but am sure there would still be similar pressures for gun players to turn out for their school and help them win a premiership. One must remember that it was pretty normal for players to get drafted directly from school until the mid nineties so it took awhile for the school coaches/parents etc to adapt.

Interesting. I went to a private school that had no real footy influence so it is a bit of a different world to me.

This Cameron talk means I get no work done today, can't concentrate, might as well go home now.

And people say our wild speculation isn't good for anything.

Problem solved.... Type his name into Google & his quick bio says 1.96m ;)

Everyone back on the bandwagon!

No need to push, room for all :)

Loving the passion here boys, as previously stated by my great self, Brayshaw is a vacuum, would be happy to have him in our team.
However, I've heard we won't be using our first pick in the draft, apparantley deal has been brokered already to bring a potential superstar player to our club.
Very, very exciting!!!

Even before we know what our first pick in the draft will be?

I dare say if it happens the closer to pick 4 we are the more we'll have to give up with it in order to get him.
If there's real interest in Armo, like I mentioned earlier, then Pick 4 & Armo for Cameron & their end of 1st round compo & Whiley

Armo and pick #1>4 for Jeremy Cameron?

Tell em they're dreaming -_-

I would take Armitage and Petracca/Wright/Brayshaw/McCartin ahead of Cameron every day of the week. If GWS throw in pick #20 (compo) and Whiley/JOR/Someone... Then that's a whole different story. Sure.

Give them our 2nd pick and Gilbert, get Cameron whatever it takes will be the best forward in the AFL for next 10 years

We know we can build our team around Cameron from what we have seen of him at AFL level already. The others you mention we cannot say the same. For that reason, if Cameron wants to come to us, we make the deal happen, it's as simple as that.

In this crazy situation where we get Cameron and lose Armo do we look to bring in ROK to make up for the leadership that we lose with Armo? Or do we just keep Jones for an extra year?

No we just try and screw Sydney over (somehow i don't know how) and get Tom Mitchell. :D

One has got to ask though, given everyone speaks of Patton's knee troubles, just how bad are Jeremy Cameron's ankles? Is there an issue there?

A medical check would sort that out pretty easily.

Not as bad as Stevie J ankles when Collingwood didn't take him

Just on Cameron, I was fortunate enough to have been at the North Ballarat Rebels during his very brief stint in the TAC Cup. What amazed me most was how good he was then for a bloke who hadn't played more than 10 games.

I remember in a practice match I was asked to help him where to run and lead to. Fair to say after the first quarter I realised he didn't need help, the kids a freak. His hands are like a vice and his kick and leap are both ridiculous.

If we land him, I'll be on huge raging erection just like the rest of you! Gees Brian, I hope you're on the money!!!

I wouldn't go for a GWS forward this year, I would next year, but hey maybe it's just me and my love for Christian Petracca haha. NOT to mention that Armitage will be our next Captain, why would we trade him and a possible number 1 pick just for Cameron? we can get Cameron/Patton/Boyd next season, I just don't think it's worth losing Armo and Petracca who is going to be an absolute gun, or Peter Wright who I'm sure will also be a great player, 203cm and 100+kg forward/ruck with a great kick... I know what I'd rather when it comes to Armo+Petracca/Wright vs. Cameron.

I'd probably prefer Patton next year as that real brute full forward, while Cameron is more mobile and athletic but not a brute full forward that Patton is, and that's the kind of player I say we need, while we have Stanley and White playing around the arcs and further up in the future.

But if they throw in #20 and/or Whiley then I wouldn't mind the trade as much, it's just Armo and Petracca/Wright/McCartin/Brayshaw for Cameron alone is stupid.

If somebody like Cameron DOES walk youd think the Dees have front running. They have a bit of cash to throw around after Mitch Clark walking away from their salary cap.
Plus they are a big chance to maybe finish 2nd or 3rd last.
If they finish 2nd last they get pick 2. Then they get a compensation pick for Frawley ( who will go) That pick will be number 3 :eek::eek:
With pick 2 & 3 they can get whoever the hell they want.

I know what you mean in that ideally we could get Petracca this year then a GWS forward next year: from a list building perspective that would be the ideal scenario but, as there is no guarantee that we will get a GWS foward next year if we can get Cameron signed up sooner using our 1st draft pick, we'd be crazy not to I reckon rather than hoping we nab one next year.

What makes you think we won't have to give up something of worth for any of Patton, Cameron or Boyd next year? If they all have huge seasons for GWS, the asking price next year may be astronomically more!

Oh 100%
If we could get Cameron now we do.
Simple as that:thumbsu:

Cameron can't walk cos he's contracted for next season. He has to agree to be traded & GWS have to be happy with the trade.... Here's hoping he doesn't want to go to Melbourne

I don't mean this as a dig at our beloved Saints co's im as passionate a Saints man as you can get.
But if I was from another club looking to change with the choice of the Dees or Saints id probably go Dees.
They are a little bit more advanced with their list and Paul Roos as coach for a couple of yrs would entice a young player.
Yes Roos has only signed for 3, but we havnt had a history of many coaches lasting much longer.
So sadly I think Cameron would choose them over us.

But that's me thinking as a young gun opposition player. If I was thinking as me id say " F--K you Dees you've been on a 5 yr plan for 35 yrs now. Im going to the bloody Saints WOOO HOOO"
