ooooooooo... burn.

Sorry, that sounded a lot meaner than I intended haha. I just don't like them that's all!

But on topic, is anyone feeling like we don't really need to focus on another tall forward right now? Bruce, Stanley, White, Lee - mostly unproven as of yet but if they can get some games together next season we may have a formidable forward line. In that case, if we get pick 1, I'd be more than happy for Petracca, he sounds good. If we end up with a lower pick and someone else snaps him up first, I'd be inclined to downgrade our first pick for several first round/early second round picks.

I think rather than having a specific focus on it, I want us to get the best available prospect and/or package of players for whatever pick we have. If the recruiters believe we'll get better value by grabbing Cameron, relative to the other key forward prospects, or Petracca for example, then I'm happy to nab Cameron, or Patton for that matter. However, I'm feeling extremely reluctant to give up both our first rounder and Armo in a deal for Cameron, just because I can see a huge issue with our midfield next year, and for the next few years if we do give up Armo, and we lose Lenny. I honestly think our midfield could potentially struggle more if we lost Armo than Steven at this point (given we've desperately missed Armo's grunt for the contest this season). Armo also appears to be more of a vocal leader than Steven which we need to consider as well.

While I have hope that Bruce, Stanley & Lee (as well as White) will become good, consistent AFL players, they're certainly not going to put the fear of god into opposition defenders. We need an alpha dog or two...

Having said that if we keep our 1st pick & Petracca is still on the board & if he's rated by Trout & co to be the best at that pick then we need to take him. We're definitely still in the get best available phase of the rebuild so can't afford to be overlooking talent.

Honestly, unless we have to give up Armo as well to get Cameron, I can't see us really 'losing' if we do end up with pick 1. Petracca/Wright/McCartin or Cameron. We should just pick whoever is best available.

Don't know whether McCartin or Wright will be Alpha dogs either!

Cameron/Boyd/ Patton or Petracca IMO

The club has already shown a will to sacrifice short term performance for long term gain. If significantly improving our rebuild weakens our short term performance I think the club will definitely do it.

This isn't to say that Armo wouldn't be a massive loss, but if the club thinks that it can cover the loss of leadership and we get something great for him then I think we will do it.

Considering his complete lack of giving an apparent s**t, is it impossible that the deal could be Montagna and a pick to GWS for Cameron?

I've already said Joey's demeanour reminds me of Goddard's when he knew he was off to the Injectors.

what are your opinions on tom lamb
Tom Lamb
Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country
19/10/96
193cm/84kg
Tall forward/midfielder
Lamb is one of the unique players in this year's draft because he can do some amazing things others can't. At 193cm he can hold down a key forward position and kick goals – he booted six in round one of the TAC Cup and five for the AIS-AFL Academy while overseas. But he can also play as a big, strong and hard-running midfielder, shown when he gathered 33 disposals for the Dandenong Stingrays recently. He's working on his consistency so that he does it more often, but will be keen to play a bit of both roles for Vic Country.

i believe he could really thrive by the teachings of roo

I guess Joey would be preferable to Armo if this mythical beast of a trade ever becomes reality.

Pass, build a culture and I think he's more a jack watts (will have no real position at the next level) I've seen him now a few times playing off half back and it's nothing I would use a first couple of rounds picks on

Anyone know how Petracca or McCartin went on the weekend?

Stats for TAC cup for those interested:

E: Just looking through them: Wright, Ahern, Weller didn't look to have good ones and Rahul 's man Beasley was named in the bests.
GGS knocked over Scotch by 2 points, but their best/goals aren't available.

Jordan De Goey kicked 6 in a big win for St Kevins... Goddard 4 in a loss for MGS against Lukas Webb's Caulfield; Webb kicked 5...

Logically it makes more sense to go hard for Cameron if that is an option...apart from his KPF playing ability we are getting our next marquee fwd/player which we had in Rooey..so playing ability + marketing $$$$ + we need players with his reputation to attract those sponsor $$$$..for the position that we are in its worth its weight in Gold and he has got 2 yrs of development already so can play straightaway and will be a good 10 yr player for us....

Just noticed Jackson Volpato from the Western Jets, he plays/played at my footy club. He's 17 so eligible next year, good to see him get in the best again this week (6th time from 12 matches). Over the year he's averaged 20.16 disposals a game, 2.5 marks and 7 tackles. Also a good record in front of goal with 9 goals and 1 behind. Bit on the short side (167cm) but solid (70+kgs). Hopefully he grows a bit between now and draft time next year and gets drafted.

I would very much like to get 1 or both of GWS's picks in the 20's. I could be wrong but there seems to be lots of real promising players around that mark this year.
