While Richardson said the return would need to be significant if it was the first pick, he wants the Saints to continue their bold, aggressive approach to list management.

“It is really simple — we will do whatever is best for our footy club,” Richardson said ahead of Sunday’s clash with Western Bulldogs.

“If there was a deal that comes along and offers us what we are after, we will look at it.

“We need to get a big forward into the footy club, and if it works out for us to let go a first-round draft selection and get what we require, then of course we will look at it.”

I don't think it will happen just on the thinking that its 'too good to be true'.
But boy o boy if it did happen it would be f-ing magnificent for our club. This one single player ISNT the answer but geez he would be a HUGE help to rebuild our club.
Like somebody else said it would be like us drafting Hamill . except when we drafted Hammer we knew what we were getting. Cameron on the other hand is young enough to be absolutely ANYTHING!!! who knows just how great this kid can be?
Watch the fairweather supporters jump back on if we pick up a signing like him.
I reckon with a name like Jeramy we should start calling him Jezza, after that great StKIlda player ( didn't he play a few games for the Blues as well :p )

Interesting thinkings....

1. No reasonable offer for pick #1 (or #2) is forthcoming. We draft Petracca, McKenzie and DVR (also on all we eventually upgrade Templeton and Weller, and snag Whiley through the PSD...)
2. Same as above, but we take McCartin, Weller Mnr, and Webb.
3. A deal for Jezza Cameron is forthcoming, plus we get a drifting Duggan and then DVR.
4. Same as above, but add Blakely and Neal-Bullen...

For me, its either 1 or 3. The first would be fun just for the thought of the U23's... Still need a development KPD though...

FB: Wright - ***** - Webster
HB: Newnes - Bruce - Vojo-Rainbow
RK: Longer - Weller - Dunstan
CR: Markworth - Whiley - Acres
HF: Petracca - White - Billings
FF: Pierce - McKenzie - Templeton
Int: Saunders - Ross - Siposs - Murdoch

Which would you take?

I'd probably be happy with either scenario tbh, I expect our recruiting team will make the most informed decision, so which ever combinations of picks occurs, I'll be quite confident that we'd have done the best we possible can. I just hope we nail this draft/trading period like last year.

Interesting comment from Richo. Seems to be suggesting that he doesn't think we'll get a great KPF with our first pick and have more likelihood of picking up talent if we trade it… which would suggest to me that they don't really rate McCartin that highly.

Would love any of those options, Cameron options the most.
Perhaps somewhat unlikely we'd get McKenzie with a 2nd round now, but that would be the next best.
Option 2 seems the most realistic (but the least imaginative) so far.

Option 5 could be we trade pick #1 (or #2, whichever) for a first round pick and a fringe player. The fringe player would need to be classy to seal the deal in the first place, such as Mitchell/Jack/Jones, Whiley, Lyons or Kennedy.
The purpose would be so we don’t pay overs for but can still get...
· McKenzie, or (if not there)
· a mid first round KPP such as Durdin, Lever, Goddard or Marchbank
· or a late first round KPF like Finlayson (or Hammelmann?) via the new academy/zone rules.
Still got pick 21 or so for a Weller/Ellis/Duggan/Blakely type, and a Miller/Wigg/Webb/ DVR/Neal-Bullen choice in the third round.

Option 6 – same as above (trade pick #1+ for a first round pick and a player such as Mitchell/Jack/Jones, Whiley, Lyons or Kennedy) but go for a first round mid such as Laverde, De Goey, Ahern or Pickett, then try for either....
· a Mckenzie/Finlayson/Hammelmann type choice at #21, and a Miller/Wigg/Webb/ DVR/Neal-Bullen type in the third round
· or if no luck getting a good tall in the second round, go for a Weller/Ellis/Duggan/Blakely type then get a Keitel, McLaren, Cripps type KPP in the third round.

On AFL gameday last week they had his goal kicking record at the same first 50 games I think it was and He was on a list of players with all the great FFs. lockett Dunstal etc. He was just behind Llloyd but only slightly but he's in very elite company in an era where going through a single FF is less common.

Anthony miles game last night makes me want whiley at our club. We missed out on miles lets not miss the next one. Bring the coyote.
So much yes!

Call me crazy, but if we finish bottom & can't get Cameron (as much as we try), I'd be happy just to take the #1 pick & run OR do a pick downgrade & player, eg: Swap pick 1 for pick 3 (Wright/McCartin) & WHE.

I'm adamant that we try to secure Whiley through the PSD

"We need to get a big forward into the club".
I think this nearly rules out Petracca being taken by us. I just can't help but think Saints have something in place already with a possible trade. Reading between the lines from recent statements by Richardson, Pelchan and Finnis. We will have a huge amount of money to offer anybody to get them to the club. I think something is being worked on.

The thought of Cameron at the Saints mean I'm being worked on...

Yeah, the noises coming out are setting us up for the possibility. I wouldn't be surprised if we give up something big for something big. Possibly something like Armo and pick 1 to 3 for two GWS players like Patton and Jaksche/ Stewart/ Corr/ORourke.

It is interesting that Patton merits a special 'hands-off' press announcement which makes no specific mention of Boyd or Cameron. At some point something's gotta give

Their list management is becoming like a farmer with a cornfield in a crow plague. GCS seem to be further from eye sight so are largely left alone. We should be looking at their scraps too.

Rahul, with the benefit of hindsight and hypothetically speaking......
Given you now have Reece McKenzie at #21 on your Big Board, would you choose him at #19 in a Phantom Draft trial re-run if he was again available at that pick?
Giving you.............................(using the picks as allocated)
1 - Petracca....as picked
19 - McKenzie (was available at this pick in the Big Footy Phantom Draft trial run and the BFGN Rising Stars Phantom Draft trial run) rather than Weller?
37 - Miller (was available in the Big Footy Phantom Draft trial run and #16 on your list).....rather than McLaren
55 - McLaren (was available at this pick in the BFGN Rising Stars Phantom Draft trial run and possibly both if you hadn't picked him at #37)....rather than Viojo-Rainbow (if you prefer a KPD at this pick)
Assuming that's true, I'd be happy with that as would quite a few others on here I imagine.

Weller's proof we already are

I rated Weller in the top 3 for midfielders in the draft, I would take him at 7 or 8 if I had a pick in that range. I would have wanted McLaren to last to my next pick, but I needed a KPP from the draft and I thought he was one of the last value picks remaining. If I was to draft McKenzie, I would take Viojo-Rainbow at that last selection and I would have loved to have picked up Miller, but I did need that KPP. McLaren, Weller > McKenzie and Miller.

Wouldn't exactly call Hickey a scrap
Considering they have Smith, Nicholls, Dixon & Gorringe on their list, it's they that may have thought he was scraps & all fell over laughing at their luck when we offered up pick 13 for him & some downgrade picks

Thanks for the insight on your perspective and I appreciate your honesty.
You really don't rate the forwards in this draft very highly do you?
No interest in Davis, Cripps, Bevan, Watchman, Eddy or Featherstone?
Chris25 now suggests calling GWS's bluff on Finlayson as an academy/zone selection, rather than letting them get him for a third round pick. Hammelmann? Any thoughts?
