I would just pay out Mileras contract as a thank you for playing gift, we arent hitting the cap anyway.

As for Weller, by his own words he has already signed his contract but im sure there is a clause there based on what the club wants to do by the time lodgment comes along.

Anyone know more about Taylor Grace? Paige's write up in her mock has him sounding like a very nice option for a team late.

Ticks all the boxes - Endurance, run and carry, finds the pill, left footer and top notch character.

Would he be a reach at 41?
Taylor Grace.... Think Tom Langdon cos he's this years version. He was very impressive when he played for Sandy in VFL. At one stage this year he was averaging something like 30 disposals or thereabouts.

Okay, I know he has probably been mentioned but I really can't be bothered trying to read what I have missed. I will admit I haven't really kept up with the draft this year BUT any chance Goddard could slip to pick 21/22? can't he play forward + key defender? If we picked him up would much rather play him as a key defender? Inb4 people tell me he has been mentioned or he is a spud.
I doubt he'll make it to 21, too many teams before us that would happily take a CHB who can play CHF too.

Unfortunately it seems his chance has passed. I don't know what occurred, if Watters sacking helped or hindered, but they took a look in 2012, then I know some at Sandy thought he was going to get picked up in 2013. But once the Jolly option was there, Weller looked decent and with a good attitude in his trial period (bear in mind there was a lot of rumour of bad attitude /laziness about him in leaving GC) and Templeton falling through the draft, that was it for Cockie.
Say Weller had looked a risk, Jolly signed elsewhere or retired on his own say, and Doggies for example picked Templeton in the draft, then I believe Cockie would have been a Saint. Now though I think his only AFL chance will be a club desiring a mature body possession collector.
Personally I hope he just sticks at it with Sandy and becomes a club legend but I suspect in reality he'll head home.

he is already again signed for sandy in 2015, so he aint going home yet.

I really believe we will get pick 1 next year as well cant see us winning more then 2 - 4 games, so we will have pick 1 & 19 to start with. I hope Jack signs a long term deal ( 4 years) and becomes a 1 club player I still remember how good his 2013 was.

well, if he waits until the end of the year, we know he is going and if thats the case, at least we should get band 1. (If Frawley got band 1 so should jack.) So I won't cry over him if he does go.

why is everone so keen to get rid of Jack Steven? By next year he`ll be 25, the age bracket we were missing at the end of RL`s tenure, so IMO we have to keep him. Or do we start all over again, piss off AR & blame it on him for not keeping the middle aged players. Some punters have short memories.

I don't think we want to get rid of Jack Steven, wsome on here think he will want to go, and he has a check by becoming a free agent. so like a number of big name players, if he does not sign up and waits till the end of the year, he probably is going. At least we will get compensation.

knew something like that would happen
Its a no win situation. Your never going to please everybody.
Over the last few months or so the general consensus amongst most footy tragics and the media is that Petracca is the standout. Being hailed as anything akin to a Dangerfield clone ( thats Patrick . Not a Rodney Dangerfield Clone:p)
So if we took GWS's two picks they offered every fool and his dog would be saying " why the hell didnt we draft Petracca".
The offer of two picks from them was enticing , but i think it needed a big sweetener for us to give up such a great prospect like Petracca.
Cant speak for everybody ,but im very comfortable with the club holding on to the number 1 pick:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Worth a shot at 41? Assuming there isn't a really good slider obviously.

What are people's thoughts on Tom Lee? I think if he stays injury free for the next two years he will definitely cement himself in our best 22 as a wide roaming athletic third/lead-up tall. His skill set and athleticism is too good for him to not be a valued member of our team moving forward!

Just did our team in positions/games played to have a look at our balance here it is for anyone else interested:

(Didn't include Schneids/Milera as we have no idea at all what is happening with them - this is also before the drafts obviously where we welcome 8-9 new players + Membrey who i did include). One other thing is obviously some of these players will eventually player elsewhere but i did it mainly on where they have been playing at AFL level so far.

Great effort SK_MD_#7. So going on that chart, we need to get a couple of outside mids & a couple of KPD. Thats why I`d like to get (if still available) at either 21 or 22 Ed Vickers-Willis, could just be the replacement for Sam Fisher. Chris25 from Freo did a good write up on him in July.

Chris, any chance Brenden Abbott gets a go this year? Seems much more settled and 188cm 92kg blokes who run a 2.87s 20mtrs and have an elite leap don't grow on trees...

Gents (and ladies, I don't discriminate), imagine this midfield;

Petracca: 186/92 elite mover
Dunstan: 184/82 contested beast
Abbott: 188/92 elite leap, speed.

Abbott and Petracca have danger factor as forwards too.

Interesting tidbit tucked away in the Membrey article here:

http://www.saints.com.au/news/2014-10-17/saints-want-membrey-early

I was thinking this, the club has been so vague about the answers. Looks like there's a contract but we haven't actually worked out if we're gonna keep him on the rookie list or promote him.
Can somebody explain how the nominated rookie works? is it the first rookie to be elevated once there is a long term injury, or does it work differently?

can nominate at rookie at the start of the year if your club chooses to decrease their senior list and increase their rookie list e.g. some clubs have 6 rookies and promote two at the start of the year to create a full senior list.

OR

after I think round 11 or 12 clubs can nominate one rookie to be upgraded for the rest of the year, regardless if their is a long term injury.

Hope that is right.

Think this is a very important yr coming up for Tommy. The club/recruiters obviously saw something in him to give up such a good pick to get him.
He's obviously had some bad luck injury wise which has hampered any continuity in his game. So he has been in & out of the side and up n down with form.
But he did have a couple of games where he looked pretty good as a 2nd tall didnt he .
Not being in the inner sanctum im only taking a guess here but i just dont think Tommy is anywhere fit enough to play AFL.
Whether that is because of bad luck with injury or whether its because he didnt learn his lesson after being delisted from the Crows as a youngster because he wasnt dedicated enough, im not sure.
Lets hope he has in injury free pre season and hits the ground running. Im not prepared to write him off ( yet ) .
Seems to be popular at the club and has a bit of fun in interviews and such , but we didnt sign him up to be a joker. We signed him up to kick goals.
If Spencer White continues to develop like he showed in the last few games then after Roo & White , Tommy would get the 3rd best defender.
Think that would suit Tommy and we might see him show a bit more next yr.
Next yr is still going to be painfull, but theres still a lot of things to be excited about in regards to how certain players develop IMO.

I hate other teams!
Just took a look at Knightmare's updated phantom draft....

1 - Christian Petracca
21 - Jarrod Garlett
22 - Ed Vickers-Willis
41 - Matt Hammelmann

Paige's PD

1 - CP
21 - Garlett
22 - Reece McKenzie (Uncle Barrels :) )
41 - Keenan Ramsay

Would you/we be happy with this? I'm asking cos i wouldnt have a clue about the likes of Garlett, Ramsay or Hammelmann, would be happy enough with CP (of course) & EVW

Rahul 12Chill, what do you guys think?

Defacto, have you seen Garlett play over there in WA?
