Think the talk of Bruce at full forward is a stop gap only he scrapped OK and provided a bit of pressure for a few games at the end of the season but don't think he has the game to be a permanent forward.

Maybe we should look at drafting Setanta Ó hAilpín, he did just kick 116 goals in 20 games for Albury in the Ovens & Murray league...

Brendan Fevola only kicked 106 in 19 games...
Besides from Tony Francis ive pretty much given every reject we have picked up over the years, at least a chance to prove himself before i rubbished him.
But if we drafted Sultana O Hairpin i would buy a GWS membership the next day.:D

Why not? Solid grab, great size, good pace, played there as a junior.

I think he is more of an athlete than a footballer don't think he has the tricks to win enough ball up forward better suited to sticking to a man in defence with the play in front of him. I thought they should have settled him a centre half back last year and am worried this experiment will just delay his development as a key back another 12 months.

And he can't kick

I was thinking this until Richo said in an interview that they see Bruce as a forward. I can't remember when/where that interview was but if someone else can it might be worthwhile posting.

I saw that too and I think it was in response to letting Stanley go and the options we had to replace him up forward.

I think they will play him forward this year but ultimately it will be about as successful as playing Stanley at Full Back. Just hope we don't screw him up playing him out of position.

I was sitting near the cheer squad at the dome when he was playing forward. He was playing as a foil for the others but he looked like he was running to the right spots and really knew how to drag his man away from the play. He didn't get much of it himself but looked much more natural there. I think it suits him better than defence. He looked menacing but the others didn't use him. If he was the go to man he could have kicked a bag- got off his man and ran hard at the ball and stayed in range. I was telling my old man we should play him there from then on.

No, I'm totally saying Bruce is in the same class as Riewoldt... :p

I'm just trying to make the point that a forward doesn't need to be a dead eye dick to be any decent
Kinda the job description though...
Don't talk common sense around that Barrels douche.

As time has gone on I'm less worried about our key forward prospects and just want us to load up on dangerous forward/mids and play a hard running game. If we go down that path I could see Bruce/White/McKenzie* being more than capable of holding down the forward line even if they aren't superstars.

Have Petracca, Billings, Steven, Armo, Acres, Membrey, Eli, Minchi and others rotate through the forward and middle while the 3 talls provide options and keep the defenders honest. Hell, if we really wanted to go nuts I could see Bruce and McKenzie sharing the relief ruck role kinda like Trengrove and Westoff did at Port which would let us keep another spot for a mid instead of having 2 rucks in the squad.

*If we get him. I do hope we go with the Petracca and McKenzie combo.
