Cripps allegedly found out two days before the draft he was diabetic but didn't reveal it to any club (fair enough) before the draft for fear of not being drafted.
In regards to McCartin, surely it comes into play when thinking of drafting him in the top 20.

Hey guys, how settled is Gwilt at the club? We really need some good ball users out of defence, he could be a good pickup for us. Does he have a family? someone mentioned he is a target on our board, so just interested what our chances are

Why its common knowledge and can now be managed.

I remember the last time we picked up a diabetic "Cripps" and the axe subsequently fell on a recruiter.....
5 to 6 injections a day! Sounds like a Bombers player

McCartin will get the opportunity to further impress tomorrow when the U18 division 1 games are played at Simmonds Stadium in Geelong. As a Type 2 diabetic he requires five to six injections a day and must come to the bench during games to check his blood.

Interesting to note the height McCartin is now listed at (194cm)...

Was 192cm late last year, so could quite easily end up topping the 'magical' 195cm mark, albeit that 194cm is plenty big enough for a more traditional burly full forward, as Paddy seems to be.

Is a great clubman but is expendable with Roberton, Shenton, Ray, Webster, Acres, Simpkin, Dempster... maybe Fisher for one more year... all able to play as either a 3rd tall defender or a rebounding player. Not to mention our next CHB in Josh Bruce still in and out of the team.

Im not sure he'd really be a fit at Adelaide though. He isn't big enough to replace Rutten at FB and you have 3rd tall options like Otten, Shaw, Hartigan etc. Even Tom Lynch dominated the VFL playing as that tall intercept/rebounding defender. If you guys are after him it would mean that a player like Sam Shaw or Luke Thompson is probably about to get the chop.

I'd be ok with getting either as a delisted free agent though ;) There were a few of us pretty keen on Thompson last year before the Delaney deal came about.

There was some interesting draft talk on SEN after noon today, with Daniel Harford, David King and a.n.other. King suggested that we might take McCartin at 1 and that Mitch Clark is a possibility for us at psd 1!

How would that transform our forward line....

Saad Clark Minchington
Billings Riewoldt McCartin

(Presuming we pick up Saad too of course)

We could then focus our other picks on mids and try to lever our way to another higher pick e.g. Stanley, 40 <--------> Bulldogs (25)

The dogs wouldn't want Rhys Stanley.

Also Mitch Clark is 28 next year not sure i'd be keen.
28 in October (interestingly born almost exactly 5 years after Nick Riewoldt), could easily have 5 more years in him... or none of course... point David King made was that if we took him in the psd then could be a free swing.

Man... if Mitch Clark decided he wanted to play again I would be PISSED if I was a Dees fan.
Yep. Would be extremely unhappy murmurings from down MCG way...

Besides, I'm not sure at this stage of the rebuild we can afford to have blokes who are extremely speculative on the list...

On Paddy, another superb write-up from Paige...

For anybody brave enough to get in McCartin’s way, there is trouble brewing. McCartin has the courage of Jonathan Brown and the physicality of Travis Cloke, and is more than a handful for opposition players to wrap their head around. Safe to say for current West Coast player Dom Sheed who made that mistake, and like a bowling ball McCartin cleaned up Sheed – a courageous player in his own right – with such force that he broke his collar bone.

Would still be more than Happy to have Mitch Clarke on our list. Takes the forward/ruck role, so we can actually play a Lee as a forward, rather than a ruckman.

Wouldn't think it likely though, and Dees fans, coaches and Players would be entitled to feel massively pissed off. No disrespect towards him, if your minds not in the right place, its not in the right place, but it sounds like the sort of situation that would frustrate everyone.

So Gibbs re-signing prevents Carlton from getting another first round pick. Good thing for us.

Now we just need Frawley to re-sign and our 2nd pick won't be pushed too far back.

Was Mitch Clark officially delisted from Melbourne or would he still be considered to be on their list at the end of this year?

David Mundy also would net Freo a first rounder i'd say, i think he is gone.

Clark lives in Beaumaris, I see him quite regularly down at the beach at dawn photographing sunrises.
Oh ok, i was just going off his Instagram/Twitter.

At 28 and considering our mission statement, can't see us going for Clarke.
I said about his age earlier but let's keep in mind we need an experience head (I think anyway) to help out the likely McCartin/Wright along with White & Lee and Clark would fit that. I don't think Riewoldt will go beyond next season.

I hope he doesn't rush back into football life after his depression battle, hopefully he is 100% if he does return.
