If Gwilt leaves via FA what compo do we expect? If it were a third rounder which would currently be a pick around 40 I would entertain the idea of him leaving. Not confident he gets us that compo though and anything less makes it not worth it.

If Lynch got West Coast a 3rd rounder straight after their third round pick i'd expect one for Gwilt.

What do people really think Boyd and Patton are worth vs Wright and McCartin?

Would either side look at pick 1 + change (3rd rounder, Sign n Trade of Gwilt) for Boyd/Patton??

Boyd's output in the U18's, AIS v Collingwood reserves, and in the champs, looks to have been a higher and also a more consistently high level than the likes of McCartin and Wright have put together so far and he doesn't seem to have any chinks in his armour.

Boyd is possibly the most dominant (for someone who plays KP and is 193cm+) to have come through the juniors this century, actually. Hard to remember anyone else remotely similarly sized who was as consistently dominant as he was. Patton was possibly at a McCartin-type level, but with the extra height, versatility (can play some ruck I guess) and better kicking for goal.

Out of those 4, at this point in time I'd be wanting Boyd and Patton in that order and then it's a bit of a toss-up as to which order the other two go. This is all going by what I've seen of Patton and the results the other 3 have produced though.

I think the scenario that's gets us Boyd or Patton has to involve either of those two signalling their intentions to request a trade when their contract expires.

Both Patton and Boyd tore opposition teams a new one, but Boyd played opposition that was far less talented and played almost exclusively as a key forward, while Wright has had to play in the ruck for the majority of the game. Patton tore some teams 'a new one', but Paddy did do that as a bottom age player. If GWS offer up a member of the Big 3 for pick 1, we'd be crazy not to take it.

Sylvia also got Melbourne a 2nd rounder and i think the AFL just felt sorry for Melbourne here.. So they should feel for us and give us a 2nd rounder ;)
Part of the equation is the original draft pick. Believe it or not Sylvia was number 3. Maybe we'd best hope Farren Ray, ( pick 4 ) moves on.
He's a better player than Sylvia anyway.

If Billings had offered us very little this year and we had three other young good fwd flankers keeping him out of a spot with long futures ahead of them, needed some more inside mid depth (Addison), and experience in the backline (Gilham) then i would entertain the thought.

We may not value Gwilt that much because we have heaps of third tall defenders and running half backs but others in need of his role may which is my point. Not trying to rip them off but pose a legitimate thought that they may be interested in offering Boyd up and Gwilt, Geary and Armitage are about all we have that they may want.

You have to be joking here.
1. Tom Boyd was one of the most dominant KPF we have seen come through junior level.
2. He's half a season into his career.
3. If we had another 2 Jack Billings on our list we would keep all 3 and win Premierships.
4. I'm glad you're not the
St Kilda list manager.

They're the only 3 players in the league that I'd give up pick 1 for. I have no doubt we will make an offer, I think Giants realise that they can't keep all 3, maybe the thought of trading out one of them and bringing in Wright at 1 and Petracca at 3 would suit their list a lot better going forward?

If GWS would give up either of this 3 for our first pick, I think we'd take it. Saying that, I don't think they will.

I'd love to see us turn our second round pick into one in the top 7 or 8, but I wonder what we could offer in return? Stanley? Probably not. Montagna? Possibly, but you'd think only clubs looking at a flag in the near future would desperately want him.

Whatever it takes, I think it's worth having a look at as there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between pick one and 8 this year.

I'd love another pick in top 10 too but very hard. Armo and 21 might get us there but a club would have to really, really want Armo to do that. I'd say the only real option is Steven but not sure Saints would do that.

I could see a team like Carlton doing that tbh, they'd be desperate for contested ball winners

You'd think Steven alone would nearly get you that top ten pick (although his form hasn't been that great this year). I'd give up Armo in a heart beat along with our second rounder for one in the top 10. Maybe Gold Coast?
