I think Milera's worth keeping. He offers something we don't have, good outside play and a bit of X factor.

I'd trade Joey for the right pick.

I hope Gwilt leaves under FA leaving us a 3rd rounder.

Great servants both.

and then it gets tougher. who do we sack to take in another 4/5 kids and then you have potential trades

dunny
tdl

then who?
Correct Defacto.

Mav, Eli stay on RL.

Minchi can be promoted....at the expense of re-drafting Saad.
Shenton may be promoted, he'll always be a B grade player, however. At least he has a crack.

I think we'll make 8 changes:
4 draft picks
1 psd pick
1 trade
2 upgrades.

TDL
Maister
Dunell
Fisher
Hayes
Schneider
1 x player traded out
1 x free agent departure (gears, Gwilt, jones)

Retire:
Clinton Jones
Lenny Hayes
Sam Fisher

Delist:
Trent Dennis-Lane
Beau Maister
Sam Dunell

Free Agency:
James Gwilt (Not convinced he'll stay)

+ You have possible traded players

Senior list spots:
1. First rounder
2. Second rounder
3. Third rounger
4. Eli Templeton
5. Maverick Weller
6. Darren Minchington
7. Cameron Shenton

Rookie Draft spots:
1.
2.
3.
4.

People won't like it but i'm happy keeping Templeton on the rookie list for the extra year, really but added him as an elevation.
i think we need minimum 4 selections.

to throw up something a bit different. i remember someone mentioning the interest in curren and potentially trading him. to re-iterate: given how well mav is going in the role, do we look at trading him for the right price?

keeping schneider on is a bad move IMO for someone that spends the majority of their time as a small fwd that is injured. how much senior football has he played in over this season and last. he's in the chips bucket IMO

maybe we look at the brisbane/pies move of turning one of the senior blokes into a dev coach and move them onto the rookie list?

Milera is a weird one; his best is best 22 at the moment (pace, good shot for goal, good agility) but he also has a habit of being soft and going missing. I say keep him for next year but if he doesn't noticeably improve then his time's up.

TDL has gone backwards I think, definitely hasn't improved. Same for Maister and Fisher just isn't up to weekly AFL play sadly. I'd like to see Fish get a goodbye game though ala last years Freo game.

Gone:

TDL
Fisher
Maister
Jones
Dunell
Lenny probably ( )

Look at trading nearly anyone if the price is right

I think we are seriously over rating our list, I can see around 20 players currently on the list who are unlikely to be on our list when we next contend.

I think there will be a massive clean out over the next two years
You speak of these 20 but don't name anyone, I think we are all open minded here and I'd personally like to hear who you think the 20 are that won't be on the list

Jones, Siposs, Hayes, TDL, Montagna, Riewoldt, Schneider, Gilbert, Ray, Dempster, Fisher, Simpkin, Milera, Gwilt, Maister, Dunell are among names i doubt will be with us when we contend again.

50/50 Curren, White, Pierce, Stanley, Markworth a few others.. They have a lot of time to prove themselves still though.

Time to go hard after Morabito, Rossco is doing his old don't play kids trick on him.

They lost Michie after putting hard time into getting him fit and then not playing him, deja vu for Mora

Pretty sure he's out of contract at the end of the year so he could choose to walk
Michie can't get a game, & Ross Lyon's coaching record speaks for itself..Only interest in Morabito, is if he's for free..No doubt was a v good 200 game player in the making, & we've yet to see the best of him..You'd have to accept three reco's, surely takes it's toll..

Not far off the mark, I'd pencil in 15 for certain including the retirees..

On second thought 20 is about right..

Hey Guys, long time Saints fan, first time poster. Just my thoughts on where the list is positioned at this point in time. Obviously it’s just my opinion and things will change with guys changing categories in my eyes with performance/ injuries over the rest of the season and beyond.

Definite best 22 going forward in rebuild
David Armitage, Jack Billings, Luke Delaney, Luke Dunstan, Jarryn Geary, Tom Hickey, Jack Newnes, Jack Steven, Jimmy Webster, Maverick Weller, Nathan Wright

Likely or Potentially best 22 going forward- Most of these make it in my eyes but not guaranteed Shown encouraging signs but not enough to best 22 yet either through injury, lack of consistent performances or age/ experience. (Stanley very lucky to make this but I am a sucker for his potential and think today is a glimpse of what he can do if he puts it all together)

Blake Acres, Josh Bruce, Billy Longer, Seb Ross, Shane Savage, Rhys Stanley, Eli Templeton

Outside best 22 but keep as depth or developing players (i.e. Holmes). Ideally most of these wouldn’t be on a list that was contending for a premiership
Tom Curren, Josh Saunders, Jason Holmes, Darren Minchington, Brodie Murdoch, Lewis Pearce, Dylan Roberton, Cameron Shenton, Tom Lee

On the way Out- retirement- Have been either exceptional, good or serviceable players for the club but closer to the end but the start. Won’t be there when we’re next contending. These are the players that will need to be replaced
Lenny Hayes, Leigh Montagna, Lenny Hayes, Sam Gilbert, Sam Fisher, James Gwilt, Sean Dempster, Farren Ray, Clint Jones, Adam Schneider

Move on- probably delist them all, unlikely there’s much currency for any of them
Trent Dennis-Lane, Sam Dunnell, Beau Maister, Tom Simpkin, Arryn Sipposs, Spencer White, Terry Milera

I don't think many are overrating our list. Most people know where we sit, but you can't just delist or trade all of them in one year, it will probably take three years of retirements and delistings before they are all gone. At the end of this year we will trade who we can, delist a few and still keep a few players that will have no chance to play in our next tilt at the top four but can hopefully give us something for a couple of years while our kids are coming through.

1st draft pick?

Whether it be 1st or 2nd I agree with others and believe this is the year to trade it out for a top rated player and lessor picks. I just dont see the value in this years group they are well below the standard of last year IMO!

I've already accepted the spoon and honestly i'm not that fussed, if we're going to be one of the worst teams in the comp then I would prefer we get the best picks available not to mention the value of having pick 1 in the PSD. It's pretty clear now us, Brisbane, GWS and Melbourne are struggling, whether it's a spoon or not, we are where we are, down the bottom.

Pick.
You only get one "best pick" for coming last.
