I'm a lover, not a fighter
Wright has a big tank -14ish beep test from memory. I haven't heard anything about McCartins tank so I don't think it is a strong point.
It's not. Having said that, I think he's recovering from injury, so that might not be a problem when he's given training. The thing about tanks is, they can be built up if the player has the self-discipline to do the hard yards of training. And the biggest thing we DO hear about McCartin is that he is an extremely disciplined young man.

I reckon McCartin, Wright and Petracca should do a Dante Exum and not play again this year, concentrate on training and being 100% for their new team.
Just let the recruiters work out who is 1, 2 or 3

It did look like he was heavily underdone at the champs games because he was coming back from that quad(?) injury. I totally agree about a player being able to build a tank if they work hard enough, lets just hope that he has the will to make it happen.

I must say taking McCartin worries me too many risks for a No # 1 pick! If we must take a tall I would prefer Wright, but I still believe Petracca is our most certain and best bet~

Its not the best year to be winning spoons with regards to the top echelon of the draft - would have much preferred to have bottomed out last year. In any event perhaps Pelchen will turn it into 2 x quality players rather than 1.

havent seen him to be honest... interesting. i wonder if he's a ruckman who dominates at colts level because of his height though. could be another notte
Hence the Rookie thought. The info I've been able to find - there's not much - seems to suggest he rucked at Peel but has mainly played forward at South Freo. Played a couple of games in the Ressies as well.

I've no doubt he dominates partially due to size, but if we're going with McCartin, who's not a giant, then where's the harm in having that true beast hanging around on the RL?

Could be something or could come to nothing, but IMO it's better to have and not need... WAFL website comments are below...
Big lad who plays as a key forward. Can take a strong mark and has good skills. Can also play as a ruckmen when required.

He's also supposed to be able to do some wicked stuff on the lead. At the risk of offending rucks, anyone can learn it ( Holmes, Pyke, anyone who has ever played basketball ) but a lot of reputable people really really rate Wright's forward game.
If he has a decent burst of speed off the mark like Lockett did, then it's a no brainer. Anyone caught behind him will have no chance and anyone who fills the hole will be carried off on a stretcher. :D

we are in desperate need of a quality KPF and unless we somehow snag Patton or whoever, then it has to be our #1 priority to get the best KPF available.

From all accounts on here then Petracca would go #2, but so be it.

I'll be glad if I'm wrong about McCartin and Pelchen's Spreadsheet. :)

However, I wonder if Lamb's disciplinary issues mean he's not on there. Apparently character is a massive parameter for Pelchen, and the kind of thing he might get pretty choosey about.

I say that, while also really loving the idea of getting Lamb, as many have seen in this thread already.
As long as we don't end up with too many Lamb shanks when he kicks for goal.

Boom Boom! :p

McCartin kicked a lazy 7.5 on the weekend.

Wright kicked 4 straight with 11 marks.

Petracca had 32 disposals and 5 goals

... tough week for recruiters.
Unfortunately the TAC Cup stats page has downgraded this to 6.4 but it is still damn good. Also had 10 marks (3 contested).

If all those 3 keep putting up good performances for the rest of the year it will make for some hard choices at the draft table.

Edit: Just looking at Wrights stats and they have him down as 7 marks (2 cont) with 4 goals 1 and 20 hitouts.

So Petracca kicked more goals than Wright and only 1 less than a dedicated FF in McCartin, while still picking up 30+ touches?

Lock it in Ed!
He is a very exciting player. He was a midget HF and reinvented himself as a big bodied mid. I like the idea of a KPF but this guy makes me want to watch footy.

I may have over stated it. He plays like a taller player despite his height. The knock on him is that he was a KPP that wasn't as tall as a lot of midfielders so he lost weight and went in to the midfield and blitzed. I imagine him as a Dangerfield, Risciutto or Chapman type who can go forward and kick a goal.
