It is morally reprehensible to send any of our beloved players - or for that matter innocent young kids in the draft - to hell. Melbourne are called the Demons for a reason.

No trading with them. No priority picks. To go to the Melbourne Football Club is to destroy a person's career before they've even started it.
Agree...Pick 1 = Pick 2 & 3 or GTFO!

Until Lever does his knee again.
Extremely pessimistic way at looking at it, do you think Essendon are unhappy with Heppell? I would do Pick 1 for Lever and Weller, would be a fair deal for all parties, although I'd love to grab someone in the top 4 this year.

To be fair a player who has done his acl before is 30% more likely to do it again compared to someone who hasent done it

TBF, Big R, Lever's knee worries me a bit too.

That being said, I'd be delighted to snare him, but I do think that Marchbank is on a similar level as far as talent goes, and that both Durdin and Goddard get extra points for their versatility.

Even drafts create tough calls.

Disagree that they are on similar levels talent wise. Marchbank is an elite mark and not much else, while Lever has better intangibles and offers more rebound. He's also a centimetre or two taller. Durdin has failed to perform this year while Goddard is really not too flash at all up forward.

Maybe, but it is still a big risk. I'm not sure it would be worth it to pick him up at the expense of one of the top 4 in this draft. More so when we consider our need for a froward like McCartin.

In a few years time when our first pick is number 8 and we are climbing back up the ladder we might be in a position to take that chance but I don't think we can just yet.

However, if pick 1 turned into picks that got us Lever, Duggan and Weller I might be tempted to change my mind.

I also see us making a play for Melbourne's pick 2...and the only guys that can net us that are Steven and Armo...so maybe something like

Steven and Curren for Pick 2 & 22
Armo and our second for Pick 2
Steven for Pick 2

We get Pick 1 & 2 GWS can go and stuff themselves:

Saints get Petracca and Mccartin..Thx Melb
This is the trade we have to do and take the best U18 midfielder and forward in the country. Although I'm still a Peter Wright fan.

I dont think its so straight forward that melbourne have pick 3.
Firstly JF might only bring band 2. Dont forget its up to the afl commision and the priority pick might only be band 2 if anything also.
They have to consider all things including how the club only restructured 1 season ago. Also despite what hes going to be paid which isnt going to be 700k anyway i think they have the discretion to only give them band 2. I could see them getting picks 20 + 21 possibly.
Its not certain yet.
Did they change the rules this year so that clubs know what their getting at the start of the period so they have time to use those picks in trade?

I think Frawley will fetch Band 1, he'll reportedly be on a $2.5m deal, which I think is the same as Daisy's (4x625k). Regardless, I would prefer to have Pick 4, Jaksch and 20 than Pick 3 and 20.

I think Frawley is reportedly on $2.5m over 5 years so I'm not sure how that effects it.

IF Jaksch comes to us, where does he play? ATM, Delaney will be at FB, Bruce would/should be at CHB, Roo will remain at CHF and Spencer has done himself no harm in staking his claim for FF...
