We'll go to the draft for our future key forward, as i think a few teams below us on the ladder currently "should" overtake us soon. Although this year is just full of upset results..
A full forward in the draft could be 2018 before he STARTS having an affect on the game. Look at the hype surrounding Joe Daniher two years ago, were you blown away by his performance a week ago?
Josh Kennedy took 4 years.

That probably what we want though, the plan is to make finals in 2018 if our key forward (assuming we get one) start's having an affect on the game around then i'll be happy. Assuming Roo plays on in 2015 (is signed for it but depends on his knee) learning off him will be massive for a key forward if we draft one.

Yes so if we recruit one at the end of this year then he will have had 3 years in the system by the time 2018 comes around. Lee and Stanley will also be going strong as support and who knows what luck we might have to get a second key fwd either in the draft or by free agency or even if Spencer White comes good - he will have had 5 years at the club in 2018 (assuming he is still on our list which I hope he is as we have flagged he will take longer)

Watching the Carlscum v Duckers game and bugger me am I glad that Jamie Cripps wanted home...

Soft as a pensioners with a stupid little ratty goatee.

Twat.
Cripps and Lynch - not sorry that they're gone. Bad first picks (especially Lynch at 13)!

I thought Hutchings was a bit all over the place mentally when we had him, a la Tom Lee at Adelaide, which is why we let him go?

Sarcasm mate or you feeling good about things?
No sarcasm there. Seen enough this year. By end of next year, guys like Hickey, Newnes, Jweb and a few others will be at that 50 game mark. Billings and Dunstan around 30-45.

Depends if we get a decent forward. It's a tough one for what I can see. Draft now and he won't be ready. Go for a FA but will there be one available to suit... and would we be prepared to throw $1m at him?

Ideally we trade for a young one from GWS who seem to be well stocked in that department. They can't play 5 talls and already 3 talls isn't working for them.

If Holmes learns to mark incoming balls we could be OK, ... does he need to bulk up a bit. :D
Homes can just stand in the square and use his vertical leap. I'm sure he has done it in basketball... or if he is running, just set himself up for a slam dunk and hold on to the pill.

Long bomb to the top of the square.... HOLMES! :D

I think we need two tall fwds - one from the draft at the end of this year and one from GWS the year after? Or we give up a player and our second round draft pick maybe? IT's an interesting situation. Lee and Stanley are second and third fwds. We need a number one forward to replace Roo....

The other question is when we are ready to go a FA who do we go for - a midfield dynamo to add the cream to our current players or a KPF to kick lots of goals? Ideally both but salary cap wont allow it....

Whichever we need most I suppose. If all three of our top 20 picks from last year turn out to be A grade mids then you wouldn't go after another one. I'd say at this stage we'd be more likely go after a forward though.

White living up to the hype would solve a lot of problems!

I think Boyd, Patton and Cameron are the untouchables. So Tomlinson is the target.

What's a serious bid for him? He was a pick 9, 25ish games. What do GWS need? Are they still keen on experience?
I just can't see any other quality we have to offer (that GWS would accept) than Armo and pick 25.
We all rate Gilbert and Gwilt but I just can't see other clubs sharing that view. Especially for a 20yo potential gun key forward.
Use our first pick on wright/mccartin/Durdin/Moore.

I reckon you need 1 class fwd and one secondary. Think Cloke/ Dawes for example. Mooney was average as well. Still reckon that Frawley would be ok... seems to enjoy it up there.

Jeremy Cameron is untouchable i think but i wouldn't say Jonathon Patton AND Tom Boyd are both untouchable, you offer them a good contract, the chance of returning home and they might take it. Been saying it for ages i don't think those three will be staying at the same team for long, i'll be very happy to be proven wrong but i'm not convinced.

If Stanley and Lee come good then we only really need the 1 key forward this year to replace Roo (good luck kid!). If Spencaaaa comes good as well then we find ourselves in a great position of having too many forwards to use as depth or trade bait. If only 1 of Lee/Stanley/Spencer works out then we trade/FA our way into a replacement or two.

After that we use trades and FA to fill any left over needs while taking best available in the draft.
