If this ends up being true I really don't like it one bit.

Surely Farren Ray + a late pick would get us something? I would much rather that than Armo or Steven. Armo is the better player at the moment but I just don't see the point in getting rid of Steven.

Just don't like it.
Farren ray & a late pick is worth a late pick.

Both won't go, one or the other WILL go.
I'd be fine with Armitage leaving, but I feel it would be a dumb move to trade Steven, his value in the eyes of other clubs would be a lot lower after the injury ravaged season he just had.
Look at Jack in 2013, he was one of the best young midfielders in the competition, I'd be extremely disappointed to see him go.

On Membrey as a mid, I'm of the belief that we've targeted him to play a somewhat similar role to one other youngster in particular......recall that a (currently) undrafted kid, with the initials, CP, began his TAC career as a big bodied third-tall forward, before his meteoric rise after a midfield transition....

I'm not saying that Membrey will reach the same level, but there are certainly some likenesses.
It seems the logical path to take. Pelch said we want him to play a role similar Gunstan role and Richo said just before on trade radio we want him to build his tank so he can go in the middle. Could be areal good pick up if he manages to develop that way. Mid/Fwds are the way of the future imo.

Steven would be a good Griffin replacement for the Dogs. Both inside-out mids.

Perhaps we could work a there way out with GWS and the Dogs so we can still keep pick 1.

Well if Griffen is worth 4 and 7 then Steven should be worth 4,6 and 7. The Dogs might want to keep 4 for Wright so we can do em a solid and take 6 and 7. :D

Would not be shocked if Lee is tried down back, although I don't agree with it at all. just not sold on the idea of Bruce forward either. I know he played his junior footy down there, but our key position back stocks are still so thin, would be awesome if Bruce works out back there. Also, his disposal sucks. Lee is a much better kick for goal, and actually has the potential to kick a bag. I would be genuinely shocked if Bruce ever kicks more than 5 in an AFL game, particularly against good opposition. He would need 15 shots on goal for starters. I am however confident Lee, Spencer, Stanley could comfortably pop up for 5+ goals every now and then. Don't get me wrong I really like Richo, he needs time and most importantly he seems to be fostering a united group which is just what we need at this point, however some the sh*t that went down at the selection table last year was completely baffling to me. We should have persisted with Bruce at CHB last year, and WTF is with the love for Shenton? The comparisons to Gilbert are flat out wrong. Gilbert actually knows how to defend, both one on one and when to go third man up. Shenton just seems to consistently get owned one on one. So he goes for a run every now and then, big deal. If he doesn't get caught he just kicks it high and long to nobody. Honestly he is a poor mans Brett Peake. I was already grumpy, the Richo interview has obviously annoyed me further. **** everyone let's just Petracca, and FYI Richo, don't try and convert him to a half back flanker!
I think that's why they like him more as a forward. IMO Richo wants defenders that can rebound as well and that's why most of the time we saw Delaney/Gwilt/Gilbert or Delaney/Gwilt/Fisher with Bruce playing either forward or VFL. I really like that plan.

For the life of me I dont see the slightest bit of sense in trading Jack Steven.
When fit he is our best mid by a country mile at the moment.
Get rid of a very good player to get a draft pick that should ( but maybe wont) develope into a very good player.
No thanks. I'll stick with Jack.

One of the best ways to learn how to defend is by playing forward, probably why so many "failed" forwards excel in the backline. Bruce will be a swing man that will play KP in the backline and swing forward when needed after a couple of years.

Also you worry about Shenton too much. He has about 15 games under his belt and COULD develop into someone like Gibert, but we dont know that just yet.

Agreed, would only do it for a key forward like Boyd. Would make no sense to trade him for a pick.

I reckon Geelong might become interested in one of Steven or Armo with Varcoe and Christensen leaving… not sure if they'll have the currency though…

Would 14 get Armo done?

or 14 & 15 for Jack?

14 and 15 for Armo and 22 is something I could see happening.

14 and 15 for Steven - no thanks.

To gain anything from trading either player we would have to replace them with someone who would be a better player then them. Well getting another Steven is going to be a massive task and replacing Armo is only slightly "easier".

Another issue is that they are right in the age group that we cannot afford to keep giving away. We REQUIRE these age group players when going for a flag. Yes you can get them with free agency down the line but I would prefer backing our own players and sending a proper message to our kids that there is something special about being part of the Saints.

Let's throw out what we would get for each of them but if you had the option to keep one of Steven or Armitage who would it be?
No dig at Armo cos the bloke has ticker.
But when both at their best Jacks a better player by a mile IMO

Armo and Steven are on the table for the right price.

Just like we were getting Shiel, Cameron, Boyd etc for pick 1.

If you make enough predictions you have to get one right eventually. Clever thing that Nostradamus did, was the shuffling and juggling of all of his vaguely written predictions, thus allowing people to read whatever they want into them.

Like Nostradamus keep predictions frequent and vague and people will draw their own tenuous links, to make your predictions come true. All hail Nostradamus.
