Jooey has zero worth to any club as he would be considered depth in any team intending to challenge for a flag, and far too old for any team a ways off to consider. The only viable options would be those mid range clubs (ie Tigers & Blues) who consistently overrate their list and their current ceilings/deficiencies, and even then you're looking at a 5th round + pick at the most as there's simply not requirement for them outside of being a GOP.

Speculation being that Armo has been enquired about, is young enough to be considered for a sizable contract and durable enough to be considered, in a bundle as a good to great player instead of a mediocre to good player like most players that get named would be initially rated has some worth, similar story to Jack who is younger and seemingly has greater scope to improve.

If for instance we're going to one of Melbs early picks, you can really only trade Jack out of the two to try and get it IMO, no one else on our list would really demand the pick.
Woah, I think you might have underrated Joey there.

Admittedly he didn't have his best season, but he was playing with injuries and even with injuries, he's worth more than a 5th round pick. At his best, he would be a seriously attractive offer to the Tigers, Blues, Dons, Crows, Eagles etc. He's probably worth a second round pick on the open market, but i'd rather keep him personally, if that's all we'd get.

We always seriously over rate our players. I doubt Jack Steven would get us much more than a late first, early second rounder. Say 15 to 25 pick. Especially after his season.
What about the season before? Where he was b&f. The season that wasnt injury interupted.
If we traded steven for a pick in that range ill be down the local boat ramp with a bike chain taking down some pelicans

As has been documented , Joey battled with injury this year, and was sometimes tagged by default, given there was no-one else to tag.

Bloody hell supporters are fickle, give him one less than elite season, and he's written off as a spud.
Who has written him off, was pointing out how misleading the stats are . Do you think he had a ELITE year this year, God we have people wanting to get rid of our best midfielder for a unproven draft pick but hey that's Football in the silly season

Funny isn't it, some were falling over themselves for JOR despite the fact his hammies snap every second step, but conveniently forget Steven was B&F in 2013 before he was injured.

Unreal

Not having a go at Joey here but stats are so misleading, how many of Joeys stats this year were cheap out the back stats, I mean his numbers this year were close to ELITE. Only if you didn't watch any saints games and read the stats in paper
I watched the games & he took the # 1 tag every week this year, yet still averaged the most disposals per game for us after a disappointing year.

A lot of saints fans don't really like him for whatever reason & that's okay, but right now he is basically having the same impact on games of footy to Jack Steven who people want picks 2 & 3 for.

Why is Joey our #1 midfielder to stop? Not Jack.

Because he is the most damaging... Before that it was Dal, and BJ... Before that Lenny.

Jack has got elite a attribute and flaws.... But he is a quality AFL mid regardless

Armo, I would hate to see go... He is a warrior.... We are a worse team without him... He could lead this midfield until we are a contender.... He is our modern day Greg Burns.

His growth suggests captaincy before Luke D for me...

Joey would be the 1st to admit that he had no where near the impact on games this year compared to other years

I really dont want either Armo or Steven to be traded, but who do we have with currency?

Maybe Gilbo?

We have been snookered by Griffen showing captaincy character so if we want 3 in the top 22 we need to trade.

If we are dead set on that approach we need to trade one.

We keep #1 and have the pick plus #22

Petracca is no slouch and is not a disaster

There's no need to admit anything... Our team was lucky to scrape 4 wins with a % of 60.
We sucked across the board & an outside mid playing in that side is going to suffer.

Out team is worse off without Armo or Jack.
Dunstan won't be the next captain, Newnes will be.
Down with Pelchan.

:)

Really hope they do none these  The more deals they get like Membrey are the way you improve your list.
You improve by gradually by releasing the least talented player then the next least talented and slowly building.
Personally not in any hurry myself waited 50 years another 3 - 4 is nothing as long as they do it right.

Getting rid of mid experienced players will make you a Melbourne .

who of these doggies kids is a future leader? i look at the players we have drafted/traded in and i can name a couple:
- newnes
- dunstan
- hickey
- curren

then you get to the mid ranged leaders
- armitage
- geary

no doubt we will bring in more

You wouldn't have let BJ or Dal go… & certainly wouldn't have traded McEvoy out.

Which would mean that we currently don't have Lee, Hickey, White, Wright, Dunstan, Acres, Longer, Savage etc

But on the other hand you often reflect on how poor our recruiting has been for so many years.

Adding one good player per year isn't going to see us rise up the ladder. Because of these well publicised drafting errors we need to make some serious moves to regenerate the list… not every player we select will make it, but we need to take some risks or we'll be in no-mans land for a decade like Carlton have been.

We all hate to see great players pushed out of the club & ideally it never happens, but our list was completely ******… so drastic decisions had and still have to be made.

I don't want to get into a slanging match with you marto, but I do think you will enjoy it when we have a superb list in 5 years time.
