You realise at 1:43 someone was about to smother it, but he actually kicked it up to get it over him? I wish some of our players did that against Sydney in the final. Do you think the kick at 0:56 is a flour bag because he kicked it high to weight it over the defender and to the forward's advantage? Kicking looks fine to me from the videos I've seen.

And Clancee does kick bullets with a lot of his kicks. One of the fastest and most penetrating kicks we have.

Show me a flat kick from that highlight package. All of his kicks are flourbags and hang in the air. And Clancee doesn't kick flat either. He hits targets, and can kick a long way, but he does not kick flat, bullet passes.

Oh and you should go back and watch it again. At 1:43 someone shepards for him and he's on the run with nobody on him. The ball comes in super high for Clem smith who's one of the smaller guys to play the game. I'm not having a crack at the guy, I actually said "all kicks hit the targets". But they do hang, and do look flourbag like.

Why would Suma be kept in the loop? He's an assistant and hes busting his nuts to get a headjob. Until he commits to Freo for next year hes a risk of taking off with the secrets.

I'm a little annoyed that we didnt manage to do some trade to up our picks. I get we didnt have the options or opportunity or the desire to do anything major that I'm fine with - but that last trade between Adelaide and Geelong was an ideal trade for us to have done.

who isn't? :D

I've watched it several times. When the camera cuts, you can see a guy in front of Pickett approach and jump to smother, forcing him to adjust the kick.

Anyway, I can see that he doesn't kick spears. Not everyone does. But he weights his kicks and hits targets and kicking seems OK to me. The other video has more kicking which I think looks good as well.

I don't know if Pickett is the right guy for WC, outside pace, WA player, only 180cm, you would think they require a player similar to Fyfe. Using
that pick on a small mid/forward when their midfield lacks height, strength, there are a lot of holes to fix.
Our midfield compared to theirs will monster them in contested play, add Crozier, Sherro, Simpson, to the mix for speed, class and the gulf
expands.
I think we will go best available first pick, and even if it is a speedy mid, will have height to allow Fyfe, Mundy, Barlow to rotate forward or back,
if required.

might not be the right guy for them but still probably the best pick

You're right, his best is pretty damn good. My only knock is his disposal. He makes Clancee and Morra's kicks look like bullet passes. This guy is the king of flower bags. He hits the target every time, but his kicks hang. 1:43 is one example, but look at all his kicks they're up and down and hang in the air. Would still be a good get, but his disposal is something he's going to have to work on.

Clancee does kick bullets??

Mora's might have a bit of loft to them, but Clancee is generally a very flat kick.

EDIT: What malpaso said

Fremantle someone at the AFL forgot to tell the Dockers that the 2014 trade period has not only started but actually finished ...... your list is too heavy. Something has to give. Something will give.

Geelong

you add Clark and Stanley to Hawkins, Vardy, McIntosh, Blicavs, Simpson, Kersten, Brown and Walker ... ... your list is too heavy. Something has to give. Something will give.

I really don't know what Adelaide were thinking. Dropping from 10 to 14 is far more significant than moving up later. Chances are the guy you want at 35 will still be there at 47, and odds are that guy will be a dud. Whereas at the upper end you give yourself much more chance of getting who you want. Geelong would be laughing.

Makes a lot of sense to be honest. They were fairly confident the player they were intending to pick up with their first pick would still be around at 14. But bringing in the pick from 47 to 35 improves their chances of picking up another good player by a fair bit. Gutsy move.

Main problem with it is if there was a talented slider, that slipped down to 10 they'd have lost the chance to pick them up... as the clubs picking from 10-13 will likely have mopped them up. They must really have their hearts set on a particular player.

The Clancee that kicks flourbags. He can kick for distance, but low, flat bullet passes are not his forte.

We're definitely remembering different players. My clear memory of Clancee starting in the team was him rolling out wormburners on just about every kick. He eased up a little after that, as he was either mis-timing or mis-directing a few... or they just went straight past the receiver's hands.

Even his longer kicks are flat. Crowley is the master of the floating punt. PearceD is the master of the flourbag.

Happy with didn't look at any of the fringe/reject types, but wouldn't have minded some kind of Ade/Gee deal to move up in the draft.

Pickett looks fantastic, there's no way WC will let him past their pick. Would have been nice to jump in front of them and take him first. I reckon Geelong might have been thinking the same thing. They've got heaps of talls, and lost Christensen, so they might be looking to bring in a speedster.
It can only be good for us in terms of potentially picking up a tall 1st, as Adelaide have since admitted that they intend to go tall with pick 14.

I saw this too...i understand how he could say that Geelong is heavy with alot of big men.....but how are we heavy?!?

Never said he didn't hit targets. Not that it matters, but that guy when the camera cuts to him is a couple of meters away and the ball is already on it's way inside the 50m arc. I guess we just have different views on Pickett. Like I said, would be a good get, I just don't particularly rate his kicking. I don't think he's a bad kick, but guys like Hill and Sutty who can deliver really low fast passing are more valuable, IMO.
