Adelaide are back in, and while Essendon were stripped of their first and second picks they were given an end of first round pick as some sort of compensation.

^Ridiculous isn't it. It's like copping a speeding fine but then they send you a cheque in the mail to reimburse you.

It's possible. I currently have 4 talls going before us picking - McCartin (StK), Wright (Bris), Durdin (Rich) and Lever (WC). But you could make a case for pretty much every team before us taking a tall. So you could add Goddard, Lamb and Marchbank into the mix, and maybe someone even takes Keitel early. Who knows.
Watermans kid Is supposed to go to the eagles? If another club wanted him, can they force them to use their first round pick?

The Crameri compo pick, I think.

Actually, no. They traded Crameri to the Bulldogs for pick 26 last year, so no compensation picks were awarded. This selection was given to them by the AFL. They lost their first and second round picks in both 2013 and 2014, but got this end of first round pick back.

AFL gave Essendon the pick for the sole purpose of removing it so as to appear to be punishing them in the event such action was required this season.

Think about it. Pretty clever. If they didn't have free picks to remove they might have to, ya know, actually punish the club.

You heard it here first.

I guess it's not unlike fining a club for tanking, and then promptly assisting the same club with paying out their coach with even more cash than initially penalised..

The only clubs that are desperate for Talls, are Western Bulldogs, Carlton, Collingwood, and Fremantle? The eagles need midfielders more than anything.
GWS has too many Talls you would think, to go that route again, especially after taking McCarthy last year.
This draft has plenty of key position talent available, so we should still do very well with our first pick, if the club chooses this path.
The only issue I can see is Mundy, Elvis, Johnson, plus who wants out, if any. With Grey, Bollard, Sherro, Crozier? In the wings, and Sylvia, Simpson?
Midfield is covered easily. Gumbleton, Kepler, don't know if there is a spot for one or both of them.

I don't think that we are exactly desperate for talls.
I think we are at the point where we can just go best available for all of our picks. maybe another KPB wouldn't go a stray but saying that I don't think we want to put all our eggs in the one basket with our KPP that we already have

Pavlich may have 1-2 years left? Elvis will need replacing sooner rather than later, Johnson is turning thirty. We have some unknown depth with our
key position players.
Our midfield is very classy, with plenty of talent available, I don't see a glaring hole in the list. We have had the luxury of recruiting J Simpson as a first
round pick, and giving him time to develop.
Tyler Keitel is very versatile, and can play several positions, this draft has apparently excellent Talls, when will we get the next chance to snare one?

GWS would still like a genuine tall defender, and would probably take Durdin if available. Richmond and North Melbourne are just as likely to go tall too. And it wouldn't be out of the question for Geelong to pick up a tall defender.

You said desperate.

We have the best ruck depth in the AFL, so scratch that one.

We have Apeness, A. Pearce, Tanner Smith, Silvagni, Kepler, Taberner, Vandeleur and Zac Dawson.

All of whom are either established as being AFL quality or have shown very good signs in the WAFL. None, ZERO have been labelled spuds by anyone. (Apart from the morons who don't rate Zac D).

I wouldn't call that desperate at all. In fact, I would call it a strength.

Sure, grab another in the draft, but don't call it a desperate situation.

Have to agree really, this draft for us doesn't scream any particular need other than not needing any more rucks.
So best available really unless the trading period changes that.

Is Keitel so versatile that he could also run through the midfield in years to come? Another Mundy/Fyfe type able to play anywhere from HB to HF and create issues for matchups with his height would be a good thing.

Any thoughts of Ricky Carey from Swans - seem him play a few games and has all the tools as prospective forward with his skills and running patterns only problem is he has zero meat on him. Could be one to fly under the radar a bit but worth a later pick or rookie.

Surely he would fail on the no d@@@head policy from what I have seen on field and right down to his footy jumper number of 69 how bloody obvious!

I think a fair bit Hinges if Mundy stays or Leaves. If mundy stays, freo will get a KPP with the 1st pick. if Mundy Leaves freo, Freo will get a mid with their 1st pick.

I got this feeling who might be gone at the end of the season...

Gumby, Duffy and Simpson.
