The passing of Phil Hughes is just such a shock . He was never the most talented player but he gave it everything he had to reach the top , a real battler .
Cricket will be the poorer without him .

Youngest aussie to score a test century and youngest to score 2 centuries in a single test. Sad to see him pass

I don't watch cricket but am completely saddened by this. The mood in the whole office is pretty down now. Such a tragedy. Rest in peace to a talented young man.

I got hit in the neck as a wicket keeper. The ball was cut straight off the top of the bat into my neck and I temporarily lost my eyesight. Others have been hit in the chest and gone into fibrillation and died of a heart attack. Cricket can be scary and is a bit dangerous at times but you can't walk out there in a complete body armour, although you would like to at times.

It's still a freak accident so I don't think much will change from a one off incident. You probably have more chance dying of a heart attack going for a jog than from playing cricket.

I feel for his family and friends.

Yeah. It gets pretty hot out there and you need mobility to play shots and run. In reality you could get hit on any part of the body and develop a clot and die of a heart attack or lung embolism. There is a risk to cricket but if you love playing the game you accept a little bit of risk. I used to water-ski in shark water down in Esperance. Never crossed my mind to stop but it makes you pretty good , pretty quickly because you really don't want to fall off

Nope, clicked on it - selected open with... VLC. Got a bunch of errors in VLC and then everything died. Never mind, i've got another stream - Cheers Esti.
