Yep, clearly all the other clubs didn't agree with him on Cordy. Some people are now thinking that Goddard will go in the top 10. He usually does his phantom draft a day before the draft. Bit late imo. Cardona picked up on that we were going to take Apeness with our 1st pick last season so I wonder if she will get some early mail this year?

Emma Quayle has profiled the 100 players invited to the various draft combines, basically it seems by interviewing people that know them

The WAFL guy seemed to find it hard to control his excitement talking about Clem Smith

"On talent alone Clem would arguably be our best player. He's hard and aggressive and he can change games. Once he gets into an AFL environment and is doing it every day, he's going to come on really, really quickly."

They said the same thing about Waylen Manson. The fitness side of things is going to be very hard for him. But for a late pick he would be worth the risk.

I'm not a recruiters A-hole and TBH, I don't have the first clue who we realistically should and shouldn't be targeting, but personally, I would not take Smith before our third round selection, and would rather have him via the rookie draft. I get the feeling he's not even going to come close to living up to the hype.

How often are small defenders taken in the ND anyway? Most come from rookie picks and that's where we should be looking at acquiring one IMO.

At least Clem has played at WAFL level and from what I saw handled it comfortably and impacted games, I don't think Waylon has played at anywhere near that level so they are poles apart.

Dayle Garlett dominated WAFL too. Clem's beep test showed a really poor fitness base. IIRC even worse than Dayle Garlett's.

Keitel sounds alright just going off his profile - his marks / disposals ratio read higher than other tall forwards up for offer

Tyler Keitel (East Perth)
Born 7.2.1996, 194cm, 86kg
AFL biography: Tall forward who provided a strong marking target up forward and has good speed to get space off his opponent. Averaged 6.2 marks and 15.8 disposals as Western Australia's most dangerous forward during the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Can also transition into defence when called upon with great effect making him an extremely versatile footballer.
Raff Guadagnino, WAFL: "Tyler is probably the most professional player in our group. He leaves no stone unturned and he really plans everything out and make sure his training, his recovery, all the little things are done well. He's been seen as a tall forward but he could easily be manufactured into one of those players who plays well at both ends. He's a really nice kid who just wants to play well and has a great mindset."

Keitel will be this years Aaron Black/Jack Darling/Shane Kersten/Mason Shaw. The key forward we all want but won't get.

It's odd - the writeup on Tom Lamb talks about 'his best game for the carnival' where he got 6 marks and 14 disposals, yet Keitel averaged higher across his games.

Don't know about Clem's attitude although there's nothing out there suggesting he has one , I'm a bit old fashioned I judge a player by the way he plays not a beep test.
If his motor isn't up to AFL then there is no point getting him. Only being competitive for the first half of each quarter isn't any good to anyone.

He can work on it but what recruiters want to see is that he has the high base to start, to see he can beep a 15, in case he is already at physical genetic peak.

Lamb just looks like the kind of midfielder we like. 192cm, already has a high endurance rate, reads like a Barlow clone but probably faster.

I remember reading in "The Draft" that a lot of clubs were put off by Cyril Rioli's poor fitness results. But Hawthorns attitude was if he can have a massive impact now, imagine what he could be like after a few preseasons.

Fitness is easier to work on than skills. Palmer and Masten were elite as juniors due to their work rate but once more skilled players of that draft group caught up to their fitness levels they eclipsed them as footballers.

I really, really like Lamb. Especially with mint sauce. I like this guy too. Would be stoked if we got both Lamb and Keitel (Can we call him Mr.White if we draft him?)

WTF does this post even mean , I look forward to your response flog.
I know Rockingham would make most people angry at the world, but I was actually complimenting you – too many people, especially on here, put too much interest and importance on beep tests, numbers, test results, and little indicators that could make champions look run of the mill and spuds look like Gary Ablett. I was agreeing with you

Not angry at all I love living in the bogan capital of Australia.
