I think 175 centimetres can render you useful, and he looks a great little footballer, but far out – isn't that about 5 foot 5 at the most? The guy is tiny. You see Jake Neade, tidy skills and knows where to run, but the poor prick just goes missing for most of the game because he can't involved enough. He's just tiny and it's obvious, it restricts your ability to make the most of the space you have and you'll have to be extremely quick and smart to dispose the footy – the shorter and weaker you are, the less time you have to take a kick.

Third rounder if he's there though.
its 5 foot 9. hardly tiny. I mean it is for AFL but not generally. Neale is 176 and he goes alright.

He's 5 foot 5. He is tiny. He's shorter than Lionel Messi!
With those test numbers I think someone might be prepared to risk a second rounder on him. Frankly if you're under 180/178 cm in todays landofthegiants game what difference does another 5/10 cm shorter make? You still can't reach.

Though his first 20m's are elite, I don't think his top pace is that great, which will see him go undrafted. I'd love to be proved wrong as I'm only a few inches taller, go the little blokes!

I also don't think Geelong will be taking Sam Durdin. So he might be available at our pick. Not sure who the better player is, but from what I can tell Durdin is rated higher than Goddard. We might get him.

I thought Adelaide would take him with pick 10 but I doubt he will get to them now.

I can't see Geelong taking him as they already have too many talls on their list, he may well fall to the Dockers at 13 & I would rate him above Goddard & Marchbank who are similar types.

If someone asked if you want Brent Harvey in your team, then you would say yes please, even if he is a sick bloke.

Caleb Daniel running, production and skills are elite. I would be happy for us to use pick 34 on him.

We should have taken Lewis Taylor last year. I don't think we'll take a small mid. It doesn't really suit Lyons gameplan and with Lachie we already have one undersized mid.

You can't train the kind of stuff Caleb was doing, that's just sheer talent.

Grab him for his ability. If he's there at our second round then he's a steal.

Recruiters passed on lachie because of his height - and they're kicking themselves for it. He's learnt to see things out of the corner of his eye, he had to in order to survive.

I have never seen someone handle the ball like that before... but there's no other players his height out there.

Spud Webb was shorter than Caleb and he could slam dunk and played in the NBA ffs. Talent is talent and height don't mean shit if you can't play.

Caleb is really bloody good! Grab our much-needed kpp first, then snap him up if we can.

Agree. If Caleb can't get drafted there is something wrong with the system. Kid is a genius. When you have that much determination you find a way. He would be a ball magnet at any level.
Yeah agree. I think the question is how many can you fit on the park at the same time. We really need to draft a player at 13 that plays 10+ games next year IMO.

he won't go that early and some say he won't get drafted at all. I think if he was still on the board in the 3rd round Id love to see us take that punt.

Should lift the class levels in the club

Just heard lloyd on the radio
Summary:
No interest in delisted FA like Lucas or Petrenko
Delighted to have pick 13, hasn't had anything that low for 5 years. You can sense he would have been desperate not to trade it.
We will take a midfielder at 13 if he is best available, have loaded up on talls the last 2 drafts
In the 2011 AFL draft they had their list of players and Sutcliffe was in their top 25, couldn't believe his luck when he dropped to 71

I wonder where Lachie Neale was then as they took him before Sutty.

I love Sutty, and in hindsight, that's a worthy statement, probably higher than that even. But let's be honest, they took 4 players before a guy they rated in the top 25? Must have rated all the others in the top 10 or something.

Who knows? Didn't even mention Sutcliffe by name, just was using it as an illustration that sometimes in the draft you get lucky "like the time in 2011 we picked up someone at 71 that we rated in the top 20 to 25". Maybe he was just exaggerating for effect.
It's also possible that they went in with particular types in mind in 2011. He did say for pick 13 this year they will only seriously short list 3 or 4 players as they have a fair idea who will go earlier, I imagine it's the later picks that are more of a lottery
