I think that's always going to be the case with taking a taller player. Its pretty well known that taller players take longer to develop and grow in to their bodies than the rest. If there is a KPP available at our pick that we rate then I think we will probably go for it.Taking any bigs early can be dodgey, mate who is pies supporter reckons can only play half a game. They take time to build their tank up and lug around 100plus kg.

True, rucks that show an added ability to go forward or even split their time between ruck & forward are always going to be higher valued these days though I guess. Hence why Grundy slid IMO.
Wright might be a carbon copy of Apeness by the sounds of it. But I doubt that he'll last to our pick though.
In most phathom drafts, Blakely is a late first rounders to a middle second round. Below are some comments about him from others.
24. Connor Blakely (WA – Mid) Height: 186cm, Weight: 81kg, DOB: 03/02/1996
Recruited from: Swan Districts
Draft range: 15-40Best position/role: Midfield – on the ball.
Strengths: Inside game – Showed through the U18 Championships excellent inside ability winning the contested ball, winning the clearances, reading the ruck taps well to get first hand on it, tackling strongly and moving evasively in traffic which has allowed ...

I tend to agree. I think if there is no suitable KPP at our pick then we should look for speed.Really interested by who we will take in this years draft. A lot of the phantom drafts that I've read have us taking KPP's with basically every pick. We need speed.
Don't no FA about this years draft but my 2 cents worth is Pitt & Simpson were taken for their elite disposal, now Simpson may end up on the rookie list but if there is a fast mid with quality disposal at 13 he will be taken ahead of a tall.
Liam Duggan has freo written all over him. Young for his draft class (17 year old), skinny flanker with good disposal.
Can see it playing out like in years past. Big guy we all want falling to our pick (Black, Darling, Kersten, Shaw, Durdin??) only to make the unexpected pick (Fyfe, Pitt, Crozier, Simpson, Duggan??)
In saying that I wouldn't be disappointed from this write up.. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-11-04/meet-liam-duggan

Crozier was another. Pace and quality user of the ball.Don't no FA about this years draft but my 2 cents worth is Pitt & Simpson were taken for their elite disposal, now Simpson may end up on the rookie list but if there is a fast mid with quality disposal at 13 he will be taken ahead of a tall.
Thought this a telling statement from an article on the AFL website

In Pickett's bedroom, 14 footy jumpers are on clothes hangers on the wall. There's his junior club jumper, the ones from his representative teams, and the AIS-AFL Academy Australian shirt. His most prized is a West Coast jumper, signed by former captain Chris Judd. Pickett is an Eagles supporter, and has a footy signed by the 2006 premiership team. But he would prefer leaving Western Australia to pursue an AFL career.
We are up against it trying to get these boys back to WA in later years, Pickett doesn't even to start his career despite supporting the slime.
I'd like to discus Dillon Viojo-.
Do yourself a favour, watch his highlights video on the Draft Machine. Guy has a laser-like left boot. Wouldn't mind him as a Duffield replacement/backup. Where our gameplan is based largely on the fast break, the value of a pinpoint pass over 50m is immeasurable (see Hilly at his best).
What about this bloke?

Could see him as a forward pinch hitting in the ruck.
Im pretty sure Stephen Hill supports Freo these days.Steven Hill supports WC too.
