Hughes passing has taken some of the gloss off the draft. Everything else seems pretty inconsequential now.
I feel for his family and the bowler.

Poor bloke, really hope his family can push through it and hopefully some safety precautions can come into the game to stop this from happening again, hopefully not![]()
You can bet they'll try.You can't legislate against freak accidents in sport.
I tell you what, if I played cricket I would be wearing a helmet that covered a bit more of my head because of this. I know it was a freak accident but I would be doing everything in my power to make sure it doesn't happen again. The poor guy and his familyYou can't legislate against freak accidents in sport.

How many people play cricket every day?I tell you what, if I played cricket I would be wearing a helmet that covered a bit more of my head because of this. He got hit on the neck under the ear - good luck finding a cricket helmet that covers that. You could wear a motorbike helmet but I imagine you'd want it off pretty quick once temps get over 30 degrees.
I play cricket and I've only ever copped balls in the face grill off my own bat. The chances of getting hit where he did are minuscule, it was just pure bad luck.

I got hit in the neck as a wicket keeper. The ball was cut straight off the top of the bat into my neck and I temporarily lost my eyesight. Others have been hit in the chest and gone into fibrillation and died of a heart attack. Cricket can be scary and is a bit dangerous at times but you can't walk out there in a complete body armour, although you would like to at times.I tell you what, if I played cricket I would be wearing a helmet that covered a bit more of my head because of this. I know it may trivialise things a little but I also feel for those young blokes up on the Gold Coast. What should be one of the best days of their lives will forever harbour sadness
