We aren't going to be able to get a Tyson type trade every year and pick 3 for Mitchell is overpaying for him and seeing that he's contracted that's exactly what we will have to do to get him.

Shiel isn't going anywhere yet, I'd love to get him but not every GWS recruit goes home.
Yeah. Like I said if we can't do a trade McCartin will make me very happy, but I'm more open to the idea of trading P3 than I was when I thought we could get both Petracca and Brayshaw.

It would be ****ing delicious playing the Bulldogs with Hogan, McCartin, Dawes and Fitzpatrick leading out of the square for us, while the best they have is that sack of potatoes Liam Jones. If only Clark wasn't such a sellout.

Brayshaw is the most complete midfielder in the draft. Has a left and right foot and is a contested ball winning machine. Given where we're at, I almost think we have a greater need for him that Petracca. Petracca reminds me of a poor mans Dangerfield.

For mine take Brayshaw and the best KPP in the draft and then next year offer Dangerfield 8 mil over 6, front loaded.

2016 midfield of:
Jones, Dangerfield, Brayshaw, Tyson, Viney, Salem, Toumpas and Trengove

Kicking to McCartin, Hogan and Dawes.
I've always loved these.

A 2011 midfield of: Beamer, Davey, Jones, Scully, Trengove, Gysberts, Morton

Kicking to Jurrah, Bate, Petterd, Watts

Ohh yeah

Why would Fitzy be getting a game, and why would McCartin play at all next year?

Never mind the fact that the Dogs have Crameri who, to my knowledge, outscored all of our forwards easily despite being undersized.

Meanwhile, if Clark weren't a sell out he'd be at Fremantle.

It's almost amusing how revolting that team looks. Hindsight is everything.

I never said that it was in 2015 ;)

The Bulldogs probably had twice as many forward entries as we did this year. But yeah I forgot Crameri. I just really hate the Dogs okay leave me alone.

I don't think they would all fit in the same goal square.

Fitzy is promising, I'd take him over Dawes seeing as he can at least do what a forward is supposed to do.

Kick goals.
Idk what happened to him this year, just looked super lethargic all the time. Played with a lot more energy later in the year and looked as good as he did in patches in 2013. Needs a good preseason.

Brayshaw seems a poor mans Wines

Brayshaw is good inside, a much better kick, faster and loves to tackle - he's pretty much Wines but better, although Wines seems to have some intangibles about super competitiveness and strength (but Brayshaw is a big body too and from all reports loves to compete).

It's pretty fair to say Brayshaw is more complete prospect than Wines was at the same age, whether that makes him better at AFL level I don't know - but if we were judging all draftees based on who they might become at AFL level then they won't often look good.

I think TPM was comparing them in their respective draft years, in terms of raw attributes and match performances. Not saying that Brayshaw is better than what Wines has developed to be now.

I don't think you can expect Brayshaw (or Petracca for that matter) to have a better first 2 years than Ollie Wines.

I honestly think Wines has had a better start to his career than Joel Selwood.
I wonder if Selwood will ever play in a bottom 4 side? Just imagine how different his perception of AFL football would be to someone like James Frawley - one has never known anything other than the top 6, and the other has only experienced the bottom 6.

I agree, but if every club knew he would have had this start - they'd have taken him at 1, we certainly would have taken him at 4.

I think Brayshaw is probably more likely than Petracca to burst onto the scene as well, better endurance base and he performed strongly against Collingwood.

Thing is he probably wouldn't have had this start at any other club. Port have obviously just been through a period where the entire team has taken a serious upward trajectory, and every player on the list has gone to a new level. It's the ideal environment for a draftee to come into. Had we drafted him he'd probably have put in similar performances to Viney - pretty good, but certainly not this great.

Why have all the phantoms, so far, got Stretch at 22(ish), or our 2nd rounder?

He's not worth a 1st round pick and Saints aren't going to nominate pick 21 for him. Are they?

Probably just means he is rated as that pick so we are getting a little bargain for our 3rd

If he is rated at 22 then teams just before then should nominate him if they think he is worth a pick there or just before us

So like Viney. Not worth pick 3 but bargain at 26. Plus our second round pick should be traded IMO; providing we get another Vince-type for it.
Vince was in his own little group of players that weren't living up to their potential mid-peak. Our man Sylvia and Shaun Higgins would have been two others who fell under that umbrella. Higgins is an FA, Sylvia has spudded it up and Vince has succeeded to date. We won't get another player like Bernie at pick 23.

I think the main reason we got Vince was because Adelaide were desperate to get back in the draft and Vince was the only player they could trade. I think Vince was far more consistent at Adelaide then Sylvia was at Melbourne. Vince also had his age against him compared to the other Adelaide midfielders.
