I've liked him for a while. Would love him at 23 if we take a tall at 2 or 3.

Having said that, maybe we don't draft a tall. Get the best available mids in this years draft and back Hogan, Dawes and Fitz in 2015; then make a big play for Boyd (assuming a trade isn't done) or Walker or player to be named later this time next year.

Unless Petracca is available at #2/#3, we'll definitely take a tall. Either McCartin or Lever. No other mids that would go top 5 I reckon.

I very much rate Blakely, perhaps even in the top 10.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Petracca and Brayshaw at 2 & 3, we draft a tall at 23. I don't really want Wright; because I think if Gawn's body gets good, he'll be a freak of a player. McCartin>Lever>Durdin>Wright is my preference of early draft talls.

Yeah Wright is a write-off for mine. Would not take him top 10.

Write-off not as a player, but as a top 5 pick/for us. Definitely has solid AFL level skills, I just don't want him. Happy to be proven wrong.

I always look at Richmond as the example

They have Martin, Cotchin, Deledio, Riewoldt, Rance, Maric who can all be quality on there day, plus Ellis, Miles and Vlastuin who are coming up from underneath

Outside of that they dont have enough talent to make it into the 4 I dont think

Tyson, Jones, Viney, Dunn,Vince and Cross are probably our quality with Gawn, Kent and Mcdonald coming from underneath

Hogan, Watts, Toumpas, Salem, JKH are unproven and they need to be good players but we still lack young talent
Im happy to add Brayshaw and McCartin with 2,3 and then another young midfielder with 23

Yeah we desperately need Toumpas, JKH and Salem to come on. Stretch too. Hopefully Frost can breakout like Miles did last year.

Haha if that happens we'll have 8 A graders on our list and make the finals. Might be wishful thinking, but the talent is obviously there. If they can even be B graders we'll improve significantly.

It was for particularly this reason I was really hoping we could maximise our draft picks this year through Tyson type trades to bring in extra talent. Bring in some 'young veterans' who've already done a couple of pre-seasons and are ready to go come round 1 next year. Unfortunately with the trade period really exploding, I don't think we'll get the chance. When that quality list includes a bloke with likely one year left (Cross) and Viney who is really not much more than a foot soldier at the moment it's hard to see anything other than gradual progress over a few years.

Thats pretty much the Tyson trade. So only overs if they rate Coniglio higher than Tyson.

They would, he's played three times as many games as Tyson and is one of their better performed mids. Might let him go if they think hems a flight risk though.

I know , we rated the top few midfielders as all about the same
This year Brayshaw and Petracca are clearly above the rest

Could get him at 3.

That would depend on if GWS are scared they dont have enough KPF depth which they could well be with Boyd wanting out

We haven't drafted a ready-to-go player capable of 18-22 games in their first season with a top end pick since the 2009 draft.

I want to see Petracca buck that trend.

I was told we were keen on Scharenberg at 2; but got spoked by his foot after the combine. Then GWS came to us about pick 2 trade and we jumped at it. We rated Salem top 5 and got a nice surprise when he was available at #9.

This is why the Kelly v Tyson debate is pointless.
