Anyone know much about Sam grimley??

Delisted by the hawks , 199cm and was the equal leading goal kicker in the VFL

Worth a look for ps2 or crap
Demonland reckon (based on 'inside info' from Hawthorn) that he has a poor work ethic.

Relax mate
He is probably weighing up whether to take say 150k to retire or move down to the rookie list an be on 60k ( or whatever it is )

This isn't jack watts or James frawley the kid will be lucky to see that sort of money in a calendar year again in his life

You keep the same contract, you don't just lose the money because you go to the rookie list.

I suspect we paid him extra to take the de-list option though.

Probably earns $200k plus his hourly rate, stacking shelves at Coles next year.

I'm not sure if you have to pay them extra, not 100% but can't clubs cut players at will as long as they pay out the remainder of the contract? Though I'm sure in Evans case he was on a smallish base with reasonable match payments, so we would have had to come to some form of agreement.

Perhaps it depends on the detail in the contract, but I thought it could be enforced by the player.

I presumed you could only drop someone off the list mid-contract if they have breached in some manner.

That's an interesting point, I wonder if Evans had to agree in someway to being delisted, or whether the contract or perhaps AFL rules allow for a contract payout and delisting without the players permission

Hmmm, if contracted and dropped to the rookie list, I don't think we can drop his salary. He'd be in the same coin, just less opportunity.

Picks in the 40-60 range have netted us Fitzpatrick, McDonald, Kent, M Jones, Terlich, and JKH since 2009 (as well as Hunt, Davis, Tynan, and Sellar who I liked). Not the worst bunch. I'm not going to hold my breath but two more (preferably a McDonald and a Kent) would be nice.

You can delist somebody as long as you pay them the full contract amount and have space in that year's (i.e 2014 for this purpose) salary cap to cover the severance fee. It's in here somewhere http://old.aflpa.com.au/images/uploads/AFL_Rules_-_October_2013_CURRENT.pdf

If the same rule used for Meesen/Newton a few years ago is still in you can chop somebody under contract and re-rookie them with your first pick (and second in the case of the last time we did it) but you still have to pay them the original contract price and if somebody else (fat chance) takes them first then bad luck.

Pretty good deal for the player if they get cut and then picked up by another club as a DFA or rookie. Pretty much doubles their salary over the years for which they had been contracted.

Surely we would only have to pay the difference between the new contract and the old contract?

Evo was good, he hit a couple of targets which was good, he nearly got the ball as much as his opponent so that was good. A good game for Evans.

Some guy on 'land suggesting we're looking at De Goey with 3 and have cooled on McCartin due to his health issues.

Dunno if it's true but I'm sure with Fitzy on our list we should make a pretty good decision about drafting a player with diabetes.

McCartin>Lever>Blakely>De Goey = Weller.
