Maybe that's fair enough, I reckon there would be half that see him as a ruck and half that see him as a forward probably!

Yeah at 202cm you would think he would end up playing both at some stage, A really valuable player potentially

A bit scary a bloke that size playing up forward. I think we should consider a gorilla fullback with a late pick for these sorts of blokes.

Wouldn't want to rely on one of our ruck men lining up at full back, whilst Frawley, Dunn, McDonald and Pedersen are all around the 192 - 194cm mark, so giving away a good 8 - 10 cm there. All of the top 4 teams have at least one good key back who's 195+

Despite height differences Chippa very rarely gets beaten for size. Sometimes gets outpositioned but rarely outcontested. Dunn's getting better too. I agree that it'd be good to pick up a bigger Tom McDonald late in the draft though.

I guess when I think of the likes of blokes 203cm playing full forward - our closest is 9cm shorter. Basically need someone going 3rd man up every contest just to ensure we don't get beaten.

I know Hawthorn are reliant on guys like Gibson who's 189cm to take big forwards but he plays taller than that, plus they're much better at cutting off supply. If I think of other teams - guys like Keefe, Dawson, Lonergan are all 197 or taller.

Excellent question.

I reckon Durdin.

If St Kilda are set on taking McCartin then I can seen them doing a deal with GWS pick 1 for a player and pick 2, which I don't blame them. But they still might just take Petrecca. I rather them take him than GW$. Then we could end up with McCartin and if chip leave and we get pick 4 compo could land us Brayshaw or Ahern as well, that would be sweet.

We like Wright, should Petracca not be available I believe.

That said, we should come out as big on McCartin - so that the Saints think twice about a deal with GWS.

We may aswell speculate after tomorrow, If we lose to GWS we could still end up with the first 2 picks of the draft

In a sense, we actually have far more to gain by losing tomorrow - because we will probably have 2 picks to use, and I do love the draft, but this is the first year in about 6 that I genuinely just want us to get another win - no matter the repercussions at the draft.

I want us to win but I want us to win well , like in the Brisbane game I was happy we lost because we deserved the heat of losing

It was brushed over that as bad as we were we still 15 points in front of the lions in the last quarter and but for 15 mins of footy they were worse than us

Same again , if we play poorly tomorrow I hope we lose

From memory he has a brother at 195cm+ in this years draft, oscar mcdonald.

So we have the 2nd pick wrapped up at this stage so we may aswell start talking about it now
Also seeing as Patton has potentially done his knee I cant see GWS trading out Boyd or StKilda being interested in Patton
So if we assume the Saints now take the best available tall we may have just snaffled Petracca

Thought about that as soon as he went down. I've become semi obsessed with this Petracca kid.

Don't need to worry about GWS finishing below us now. We were worse than pathetic today.

We should now have two of the top three picks in the draft but we need all four of McCartin, Petracca, Wright & Brayshaw & that still isn't enough.

8 years of horrible skill, effort, commitment & results - still no light at the end of the tunnel.

We need miracles at the MFC!!!

GWS may go pick 3 and Jaksch + steak knives for pick 1 though.

Pick 3 and a mid to the Saints would still get them one of Wright or McCartin, if GWS confirm they will take Petracca.

Seriously though guys, we desperately need McCartin or Wright to go next to Hogan now we know Dawes is no good.

Wasn't a great day to be a lead-up CHF for us to be fair.

But yeh, he's never going to kick bags for us you wouldn't think.

Dawes has been shit for the past month or two and even before then he wasn't going great. He tries hard but he's being paid to do more than try and as a leader of the club really needs to perform better.

If we end up with picks 2 and 3 we might have to make a bit of noise about McCartin and Wright, hopefully we can scare Saints into thinking twice before sending pick 1 to the Giants.

We've been making noises all year about our need for more midfield class/depth though so I'm not sure the Saints would be sucked in by that. If we do get top compo for Frawley (which seems less likely every time he plays) then they'll expect us to take one of them but not both.
