Sydney- Franklin Tippett
Hawthorn - roughy gunston
Geelong 09-11 - Hawkins pods mooney
Collingwood- cloke Dawes brown

All the premiership teams had 2 quality forwards who can kick 3+ goals and then Sydney this year

Hogan is one . Then we need 30 goals from someone else

How can you quote Dawes for Collingwood in 2010 and not for us now? He's just as crap now as he was then.

West Coast won a Premiership with Quinten Lynch as their main forward target.

More importantly, every Premiership side had a gun midfield with plenty of depth.

You need two of the three lines to be great. Personally I'd keep throwing assets at mids/runners with foot skills until that's right. But I have a higher opinion of Hogan than is probably healthy so that's probably clouding my view a little.

Well Dawes and brown were able to kick 30 between them which is about the pace that he is at now

If people think he can kick 30 goals or share that with gawn/fitzy/Howe then draft mid depth

The west coast and Sydney premierships came in an era when most of the good full forwards were nearly finished (Lloyd, neitz, richo etc ) and they were all mostly playing for bottom sides

I'm not saying we should take a key forward instead of a mid but having a second quality big bloke wouldn't be a problem

If we could get the young frost in from GWS then you could argue our backline looks fairly stable

The midfield is still horribly shallow but we should be able to add 2 quality young kids along with hopefully watts toump Salem and JKH stepping up another gear

I noticed Shaun mckernan got delisted from the crows , should we take a look?

Won by a bees dick.
We definitely need to add to the midfield, but another good forward should be high on our list of priorities as well.

All positions are high on our list of priorities, aren't they? If we want to become competitive more quickly, then we need a decent midfield. A quality inside mid and some composed ball users under pressure would do wonders for us. Absolutely we could do with another key forward to complement Hogan, but our ball winning capability and our ball use are as bad as any team in the competition.

Quinten Lynch was actually a very good key forward in his day. Though I do agree with the need to stack our midfield first.

Very good is a bit much, but his Collingwood career definitely wasn't a fair reflection of what he could do on his day. Not exactly someone who comes to mind when you want to talk about the big key forwards of the past 10 odd years.

He kicked 65 in their Premiership year. That's about the same as this years Coleman Medalist.

Well aware. Back then that ranked him 8th in goals for the season behind KPFs Fev (better), Hall (better), Pav (better), Gehrig (better), Neitz (better), Lucas (better) and just ahead of Riewoldt (better), Bradshaw (better), O'Loughlin (better) and Richardson (better).

Not the worst player about but also not in discussions when talking about the best. Firmly a middle of the road character who had a few good seasons when West Coast were in their pomp.

He also had the best midfield in the comp kicking the ball to him, same as Mooney at Geelong, 28 goals was his career best until 2007 when he managed 67, then 52 and 46 the following 2 seasons, both were averages player that wicked delivery.

Wins a lot of uncontested ball. Pretty handy mark too. People on this forum tend to think that his disposal is shoddy but from what I've seen he typically uses it well. Just tends to stab at the ball too much. Good link-up player.

I'd say average by foot - not as good as you'd like from a purely outside player... but that's why we'll get him 3rd/4th round.

Great runner.

Certainly isn't an 'elite kicker' to the extent that someone like Watts or Suckling can pull off really high risk kicks which break games open, but he also doesn't butcher the ball as much as others on our list. His running is definitely an asset like you've said, he gets the ball in good spots.
