If we can add McCartin, Petracca, Stretch and Frost in a single draft/trade period that would be pretty huge. It's sureing up all three lines. It doesn't seem like we're that hot on Jaksch which is interesting. Haven't heard much about O'Rourke and the Dees either.

I'm not too fussed about Jaksch or O'Rourke - O'Rourke was a pretty left field top pick I think and Jaksch is a mid-first rounder who hasn't shown a heap, certainly Frost has shown more.

May I ask how we would get all those players? Obviously Petracca at 2 and stretch as a 2nd or 3rd round. I'm guessing mccartin is at 3 assuming we get band 1 for frawley. How do we get frost?

Trade our second rounder to GWS for Frost (and maybe their fourth/another fringe player).

I really like Jaksch - sure he's not as good defensively as Frost (yet) but he's a very good intercept mark and certainly a better kick. Good mover too. I like that he can go forward. Probably a better Pedersen.

With O'Rourke I'd be keen to take a gamble on him - of course it depends on what we give up but with some size he'll be a really good player.

I love the F/S rule.

To a certain extent, I don't even care if he's a Chris Johnson-esque dud. If there's even the slightest chance he might be decent (which it sounds there is), he's worth the punt.

Welcome Billy.

Just had a though - under the old system we'd have automatically received priority picks at #3 in 2013 and 2014 and one at #21 in 2012. The AFL abolishing it shortly after 2009 really screwed us, as did the expansion club draft compromises.

Yes, we've been that shit for that long.

We would of had pick #1 this year. Because our priority would have been before round 1 and the Saints had one after(approx. #19).

EDIT: actually I checked, Saints only won 5 games last year. Means it would have been 1.StK 2.Mel 3.StK 4.Mel

Nope. Old rule (2009) was 8 games over 2 years and no more than 4 wins in either of those years for a start of 1st.

2012 draft: end of 1st
2013 draft: #1OVR (Boyd) AND #3OVR
2014 draft: #1OVR, #3OVR plus Chip possibly

Yep my bad - would have been pick #1 in 2013 and 2014, rather than pick #3 like I said.

But if the rules stood as they were then wouldn't the new teams be eligible as well?

Yes I think with the expansion teams it's was expected that their first few years wins would be seldom. Knowing kids would come good, unless they happen to have a bunch of misfortunes and picked up talented youngster like tambling and Morton types
