I think the main reason we got Vince was because Adelaide were desperate to get back in the draft and Vince was the only player they could trade. I think Vince was far more consistent at Adelaide then Sylvia was at Melbourne. Vince also had his age against him compared to the other Adelaide midfielders.

There's a decent chance he'd have gotten them across the line in a few close games and hence into finals this year.

Definitely!!

Vince nearly played more terrific games in 1 season than Sylvia played in his whole career at Melbourne.

I loved Sylvia, his best was unbelievably good, but just so rare.

St Kilda are apparently 'open' to trading away the #1 pick. Unlikely to happen but if it does it'll probably be to a side that's keen on Patrick McCartin or Peter Wright, leaving Petracca to fall to us.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was thinking when I said 'unlikely to happen' but still, one can dream. They might be tempted if GWS offer a deal akin to what we got for #2 last year.

I think they would be crazy to knock back McCartin. They are going ok with their rebuild of the midfield. But they are desperate for a KPF to replace the skipper in a year or two. McCartin should be a lock for them I would have thought. Would be extremely surprised if they didn't pick him...

Regardless of the team give me Petracca any day. 92kg 18 year old midfielder who tested in the top bracket for agility and right up there for the vertical leap and 20m sprint. Can win a clearance and is a good kick under pressure too. That's going to improve your midfield right from day 1.

Regardless of the team give me Petracca any day. 92kg 18 year old midfielder who tested in the top bracket for agility and right up there for the vertical leap and 20m sprint. Can win a clearance and is a good kick under pressure too. That's going to improve your midfield right from day 1.

Hope you don't me dropping in. I believe he also tested very well for endurance (in the beep test at least), so athletically he is about as rounded as you're going to get, especially when all that is combined with his significant strength.

Ridiculously strong overhead for someone his height, too, like a Jack Ziebell and also comes from a very high level basketball background (like Pendles, Bontempelli, Dal Santo, etc), so is likely to have good "spacial awareness" in heavy traffic, like they do. Basically a more agile/nimble, quicker and more athletic version of Ziebell, with a bigger tank (meaning when he plays midfield he won't need to come off as much as Ziebell does and as such you'd expect will rack up more possies).

I'd say no though, Brayshaw is a ready made contributor and I'm not convinced about Greenwood.

I mean he was exceptional this year but it has an NBA contract year vibe to it and I've got a raging hard on for Brayshaw, no homo......maybe a little homo.

Smaller guy, easier to spoil when marking overhead and good hands nullifying the spoil.

I think it's probably more that those who are taller are also likely to have bigger hands and as such are more likely to be stronger overhead. Doesn't work that way all the time of course, but as a general rule I think it would be the case. You just don't see that many around Petracca's height being so dominant overhead all that often. From what I've seen and heard he just gobbles up the ball overhead. Farren Ray is a similar example for us (although not so much in contested marking situations). We can kick it to him almost anywhere, any time, around the ground, because he is incredibly strong and consistent overhead and rarely drops a ball he gets both hands on, but we wouldn't have anywhere near as much confidence kicking it to most others on our list who are around his height (about 187cm, like Petracca). Likewise, you don't see many at all around Ziebell's height doing what he's been doing up forward in the air in recent weeks.

Regardless, Petracca is incredibly strong overhead. That was the one thing that stood out to me when I was him in the champs earlier in the year. He was just taking contested and strong overhead marks like they were nothing. Looks like being a big weapon for him at AFL level and is exactly what clubs seem to be looking for at the moment.

Crazy that we were trying to work out a Deal for Greenwood for 23 last season

Id think you would have to up that pick into the top 10 and then we would consider it

Brayshaw is just as good IMO (possibly better), I just want both.

Combine is the week after next I think. These were just comparisons of results from other tests.
