Getting into the All Australian team at the National Champs is "not doing anything" as well as being one of SA's best players?

They had him there 'mid year' mate... hence after the championships.

"FORMER Western Bulldogs forward Matthew Panos is poised to re-enter the AFL system after transforming into a big-bodied midfielder and leading SANFL club Norwood to the 2014 premiership with a best-on-ground performance."

"The midfield move turned out to be a stroke of genius for Norwood, which won its third straight premiership on the back of Panos's game-high 28 possessions, 12 clearances and a goal."

"AFL.com.au understands premiers Hawthorn as well as the Sydney Swans, Collingwood, the Brisbane Lions and Melbourne have shown interest."

Knightmare rates Stretch as a late first rounder in quality and has pitched us as being forced to use our 2nd rounder in his phantom draft. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out.

If we want Danger (unlikely, but still), Lumumba & Frost, we will simply have to trade players to earn picks capable of claiming Stretch as F/S....

But not if we have traded the pick we were slating to use, and somebody bids higher...
Father some bidding occurs before the trade period and any picks are then locked in to the F/S selection. If, for example, St Kilda bid their second round pick, we must commit our next available pick (our second rounder) to selecting Billy. Once that is done, that pick can't be used in any trades. Similarly, if we choose not to pick him, St Kilda would be committed to using their nominated pick on Stretch.

I heard Brisbane DID NOT nominate Tyler Roos under the father/son rule. Reckon we should have a go? :p #fatherson #coachandson

As a rookie pick, why not - he's a pretty solid player.

I'm starting to feel like I'd be more than happy if we just take whichever 2 of Brayshaw, McCartin and Petracca are available at 2 and 3 (presuming we get 3).

It would have to be a pretty good deal to break it up.

We should be able to do enough with our later picks and players if we need to add a few senior players.

Agree, seems the way it is going.

Thats a good plan, but why not Wright ?

Wright very good too. But seems to be slipping in most phantom drafts. Hoping one of Gawn/Fitzpatrick have a breakout year after 2nd preseason under Roos.

I'm not sure where I rate Wright - but it's 4th at absolute best.

McCartin is a more natural footballer and he impacts the score board. He would also make a pretty good pairing with Hogan in my opinion, as he's more of a strong marking full forward and Hogan is your lead up CHF.

I also see less risk with McCartin.

Agreed on Wright being the high risk.

The interesting thing about the top 4 in this draft is they are all different kinds of players - Brayshaw is the classic small mid, Petracca is a big bodied mid/big small forward, McCartin is a small KPF and Wright is a very big KPF/ruck.

FWIW, I think it's Petracca to the Saints with #1 (and them whinging in 3 years about not having a KPF), McCartin and Brayshaw to Melbourne after trade deals fail, and Wright to sit in GWS's reserves for 2 years till a deathmatch between him and Boyd for our main ruck/resting KPF slot.

Brayshaw looked like a fairly decent sized mid from what I've seen. Fairly strong, and around 187cm I think.

I agree with your guesses there - quite a few suggesting GWS will take Lever if they aren't able to trade up to pick 1.

Am very interested to see if you can pry pick 1 from the saints actually. They will be tempted with Jaksch and O'Rourke. Could all come down to how they rate Wright.

It's the Saints. They will overpay their hand.

We'll offer JOR, Jaksch and 19, and they'll go 'Its pick one !'.

I have a suspicion that they'll hold and there might not be much movement amongst first round picks this year.

It's the first year for a while that most clubs have had a whiff of a high pick!

Okay, so Collingwood get Moore with teir 7. We then have Melbourne sitting at 2 and 3, with GWS with a KPF habit sitting behind them at 4.

There are two KPFs at the top end.

Trading up fro #5 or #7 to Melbourne must be tempting for the Blues or Doggies.
