The thing is, he wants to leave

We should be quite happy without him, we shouldnt be chasing him we should put 33 on the table and say take it or leave it
If not Id rather draft a kid who isnt a ******
I completely agree I would much rather use 22 in the draft (hopefully Cockatoo), unfortunately Roos seems keen to get him in. Maybe then use jedi like powers on Roos 'this player isn't worth pick 22.'

Probably posted a million times, but I'm stoked to have Stretch with pick 39. He looks great.

Looks great under pressure, very slick. Will be fantastic to have a bit more class.

Hard to gauge anything from videos in the under 18's, because its mostly there good work

But he looked clean and agile, also able to keep his cool under pressure and find a team mate

Atleast he is ours now and we can focus on his core strength so he can bust through some more tackles

For anyone who says anything about him being 'skinny' go look at some of the old draft videos from players who are guns now. Franklin, Roughead, Lewis, Deledio etc were all very skinny at their draft camps.

Obviously you'd prefer players to come in with some bulk, but just because they don't have any now, doesn't mean they never will.

He's catering to the present and the future.

Last season was Cross/Vince/Georgiou for right now. Tyson/Riley for now and the future. Salem/JKH/Westrupp/Harmes/King for the future.

He's trying to get the team as competitive as possible right now but is also setting things up for the future. Done an amazing job already in the 1 year he's had.

We're more competitive than we were last year but Roos has hardly set us up for the future. Still plenty of work to be done there. Tyson, Salem and JKH all look like good pick ups, but Riley, Michie, Harmes and King haven't done anything of note yet.

I really struggle with the age profile of our list and the general opinion. Consensus is that we have 'loads of kids' when we really don't. Sub-22, it's only Tyson, Toump, Salem, JKH, Hunt, Kent and the rookies.

It's not like we're GWS.

We probably still have the worst list of kids sub 22 including the big guns, its a scary proposition

..Viney and Hogan, plus 1 or 2 more guns in this draft, and Billy Stretch.

I don't think we do. I just think noone rates us because we're Melbourne. Example: Carlton. The only sub-22 kid I think they have who's really talented is Menzel.
Or St Kilda - their bracket has improved but it still isn't huge - Dunstan-Billings-Templeton
Or Adelaide and Essendon who've been stung by the draft issues recently.

I think we'll be okay, I just hate this attitude of 'do more with what you've got' when we've gone and cut a hell of a lot of deadwood and will be again.

I think the plan is for Roos to stabilize the list/club in his three years and Goodwin to build for the future with the comfort that our list will be in good shape. I doubt they'd have a succession plan so Goodwin has to do another rebuild or a rebuild of a rebuild.

I guess I should have expanded it to 24 because thats your young talent

Adelaide have , Walker, Danger, Sloane, Smith, Crouchx2, Talia etc
Essendon have Heppell, Melksham, Carlisle, Hibberd, Zaharakis, Daniher

Carltons is probably worse than ours true but we still have alot of work to do to get a young group as good as Adelaide, Collingwood, GC, WB etc

Demons List

Blokes who will still be around in 5 years...

Grimes
Jetta
Howe
Watts
Trengove
Gawn
McDonald
Tyson
Toumpas
Kent
Viney
Hogan
Kennedy-Harris
Salem

14 out of 40 odd, and some generous inclusions (some favourite whipping boys). Add in some injuries and a few players wanting away / taking up free agency, there's a heap of work to be done to build a core group that'll be leading the club in 5 to 10 years.
