I can't remember all the rules: is it possible we could be forced to use pick 2 or 3 on stretch with the father/son pick if somebody else picks him in the first round? Would be pass on our F/S if that happened? Can be bail on the F/S? Or is it pre-nominated?

Holy dude lol

Father son nominations happened before trade week
We have to pick him with our first pick AFTER the nominated pick, no one nominated him before pick 23 so we were free to nominate him with pick 40

Thanks, ya sarcastic SOB. ;)

I don't really keep up with everything that happens in the footy. I pop in and out when it suits me, so I do ask the occasional question that makes me look like a total noob.

Rumours are that we're going to draft Tom Scully and Jack Trengove with those two picks. Hopefully they go better on debut than Jack Watts did last year.

Guaranteed stars, Trenners has been playing against men and will be hardened for AFL footy, only injuries can stop him now
Scully is the most loyal honest character you could ever draft, future captain who isnt motivated by money

McCartin is a more dominant forward despite being 10cm shorter. That says something.

More consistent probably, Wright's best games have been better - 29 touches, 14 marks (6 contested) and 4 goals is fairly dominant.

**consistently dominant. I just feel like he doesn't use his size to impact games, whereas Wright relies on it almost entirely.

Sure, but I'd say that's the biggest worry about Wright - that he doesn't consistently use his natural strength and height to his advantage.

McCartin's a much more natural forward, Wright has more upside but definitely isn't as 'far off' as some other high upside top picks.

Honestly not sure who I'd prefer.

Haha yeah I'm really not keen on Wright, but I'm pretty sure that will turn out with McCartin flopping at the Dees and Wright going on to star at GWS.

With the way our list is currently and after watching some highlights I really wouldn't mind if we went with wright over mccartin. That idea is growing on me. I don't think we lose though with any two of those 4.

I don't trust a kid who is playing with that much of a height and weight advantage at 17. It's not like he's kicking 10 a game, he doesn't even have a sure position yet.

Callum Bartlett and Tom Swift were both meant to be #1 picks at 17.

I will be ropable if we take a player who has no form to go off in 2014 at pick three.

Considering Mahoney is on record saying 2 and 3 will be two of McCartin, Brayshaw, Petracca and Wright I would be shocked and annoyed if anyone else was called out.

Also, the season is over, combine testing is done and contact with potential draft picks is very limited; kind of hard to imagine how a player outside those four would even get looked at.

Brayshaw at 2 seems a lock.

Wright doesn't look as gangly as I thought he might. And there is still plenty of scope to fill out.

I've gone back to not caring which of the two we take. McCartin maybe would have more immediate impact.
